I am always amazed at how many people “sell” products and wonder WHY they are struggling in their home business.

Let me tell you WHY!  First of all, most people are not good Sales reps…they don’t feel comfortable selling…they don’t feel comfortable asking for money! (oh, and by the way, people don’t like to BE sold, shhsshhh – don’t let anyone know)

So if your approach is to tell people you have AN AMAZING opportunity and to come check it out tonight…here is what your prospect is thinking…first of all, MLM has a bad stigma (sorry if this is the first time you have heard this) as so many people have tried and failed to just let everyone they know (and tried to sell) that it was a scam, a pyramid scheme, no one makes any money…..this is a way for them to feel “OK” with themselves and that it wasn’t them…they didn’t fail…it was the opportunity that failed.  Right?

So your prospect is thinking…ohh man!  Not one of THOSE MLM dealy’s!  I am not interested.  And, think about it…you are asking them to drive 30 minutes to your location (after work as they are tired), listen to you pitch them for an hour, then your asking them to bring their wallet or purse as you are going to try every close you know to get them to buy….does this sound like YOU?

If so, GOOD LUCK!  You will never be duplicate-able, which is the KEY to being successful in the Network Marketing profession.

You see, after 6 years of going from “what is an MLM?” to “I figured it out!”…I have interviewed thousands of Distributors and it is absolutely black and white to me…on why the top leaders are exploding their business with ease and why 97% are failing…..

Are you Ready to learn “WHY”?

Answer:  Leaders don’t Sell!  I know, I know, your thinking….but I don’t sell either….I Share.  Meaning, you SHARE products….you share all their benefits, ingredients, money you can make, it’s a great company with great leadership, etc…right?  Well remember, after you have “shared” all the great things about your product…there comes a point where you need the prospect to join/buy right?  Well my friends, that is the point that most people fail….when it comes time to talk about “how much is this going to cost me!”.  If you get ANYONE that asks…”how much is this going to COST me!”….you are selling!

And….if you have 100 people in your cell phone contacts and you have only approached 3-5 of them because they are great networkers….sales reps….fun people….etc….You Are Selling!  Because you are picking and choosing who YOU think would be great sales reps, networkers, etc…

You see, after 6 years of interviewing million dollar earners….I came to realize they didn’t sell product…first, that is.

They educated their prospects on “why” everyone needs a home business and “why” it’s a smart financial decision.  Stick with me here….you are about to learn the biggest insight of your Home Biz career….there are only 2 tax systems in America, one for the “informed”…and one for the “UN-informed”.

98% of American’s are apart of the UN-informed…that is why there is such a small amount that keep getting richer….the rich understand, that Money makes Money!  So if work a 9-5 job and get a huge chunk taken out in taxes, I then try to live on what’s left over.

The rich (informed) understand that if I work and keep all of my money, I can invest that money in my business and make ME MORE MONEY!  WOW, what a novel concept!  And guess, what…they only pay taxes on what’s left over.

Here’s a REAL example:

Take $1 and double it 20 times = $1,048, 576.00

Take the same $1 and double it 20 times WITH taxes taken out = $21, 931.15

Now, WHY do the rich get richer and the poor get poorer…the rich understand that to have MONEY making YOU MONEY…you need to reduce your tax liability to the LEGAL (key word) legal, minimum.  This allows you to keep more of what you make and invest it into YOU!

So, getting back to “why” top leaders explode with ease…..they educate their prospects that they are LOSING money by not being in a home business and if they can help their prospect KEEP more of the money they make in their 9-5 job, which then pays for the home business (so no out of pocket money), this gives them a way to be profitable month one!

Did you notice the difference?  If the light bulb just came on….good, this is a mindshift!  Stop selling people on how much they can GO make (that is a second job and no one has time)…start showing them how much they can start KEEPING on their next paycheck by joining your business, which pays for the business, and now they can go share that with their co-workers, family, and friends without ANY REPUTATIONAL RISK on selling people on the next miracle juice!

You see my friends….I have mastered the art of the “irresistable offer”.  If I can show you in less than 5 minutes how much you are LOSING each month by not being in a home business…would you be interested in knowing how much that might be?  Of course you would, I have not met anyone in the last 3 years that has turned me down…curiosity and fear are 2 HUGE emotional actions that people can not walk away from.

Conclusion:  Show people the “why” they need a home business first….then second, show them your business as the solution to their WHY! …or another way of saying it….GIVE people something first and then let them ask you how they can give to you!

4 Deadly Mistakes Home Business Owners Must Avoid

We’re all part of a very special group, Entrepreneurs. Yet, we don’t all enjoy the same level of success. Why is that? We’d like to believe that the rich and successful have secrets that they’re keeping from us, and if only we knew them, or fortunes would be transformed!

Well, there is no magic secret. Sorry. It all has to do with discipline and following a system. With that said, there are some very common mistakes that people make in the day to day functions of their business. These mistakes doom them to a life of mediocrity. They choke the life out of the efforts. Below are four of the most common:

1. Not Scheduling

The apparent freedom that comes with working from home can be a double edged sword, especially if you’re just breaking free from the shackles of the corporate world. Unfortunately, whether you’re working from someone else or working for yourself, you must have a schedule. Time is the scarcest of commodities, and you must treat it as such. It is the most valuable thing you’ll ever have to manage, it is priceless.

If you allow yourself to just ‘figure it out’ each day when you wake up, you’ll never get anything done. If you’re honest with yourself, you’ll realize this. With no scheduling and planning, you don’t know what you’re working towards and you don’t know what you’re accomplishing. Most likely, you’ll end up spending most of your time doing tasks that do nothing for the growth (money) of your business. Tasks such as filing, cleaning your workspace, bills, calling customer service for that issue that ‘has to be taken care of today’.

True, all these tasks are in some respect important. But they fall under the category of ‘Operations’. They do nothing for your bottom line, and therefore should be relegated to either someone else to do, or to a block of time where they are addressed together and quickly.

Pick a day during the week – I use Sunday evening – and every week sit down for 20 or 30 minutes and plan out that upcoming week. Based on the goals and stepping stones you have set for your business, what needs to be done this coming week to reach your 1 month goals, 3 month goal, 1 year goal? If you have this process in place, your business will run smoothly. Also take this opportunity to look at the week passed and to review it.

2. Not Prospecting

For most businesses, you have to prospect. Just because you’re now working at home does not mean that you do not have to associate with the outside world anymore! Quite the opposite – the very existence and success of your business depends on it!

I have my own preferred methods of prospecting, but I won’t get into that here. There are various methods to use: be it cold-calling, search engine marketing, email marketing, offline marketing, etc. You have to do your homework and pick a mix of marketing methods that will supply you with prospects. Then you have to prospect them.

You need to take the time to learn and refine your communication and prospecting skills. It is an art and skill to be able to prospect and close someone effectively. Learn this, or your business will suffer.

3. Momentum – Not Running Through the Finish Line

So you now have goals and schedule – great. But what do you do when you reach a goal, especially at the beginning stages of your business? You absolutely should celebrate your successes, no matter how small – but then get back to work!

Watch a race, any race. It could be swimming, running, motorcycles, or car racing. How do these people finish the race? Do they race to the finish line, or do they go full speed right through it?

Treat your business the same way. One mistake I see too many people do is celebrate and relax too much at every little sign of progress. Give yourself a pat on the back and a smile and keep going. Building momentum is so key to making things happen in business. Every time you stop, you kill any momentum you have built and you have to start over. Keep refining your goals and adding to them so there is always a next step. Don’t kill your momentum. Make sure you run through the finish line.

4. Marketing – Not Enough Of It!

Ah, the big one. Let’s put it very simply: If no one buys from you, you have no income. If no one knows your business exists, then no one can buy from you. If you do not market, then no one knows your business exists.

Therefore, if you do not market your business, you have no income.

Agreed?

If you don’t like marketing – start liking it. There are so many ways to do it, find a few that you enjoy and make it fun. The fact is, the majority of your time should be spent MARKETING. At least 60% of your time, if not 80% should be spent marketing.

Go through your typical day and think about what you spend time doing. How much do you spend marketing? If you’re like most people, you probably spend less then 20% of your time marketing. Therefore if you’re like most people, you’re not making any money with your business and like most people, your business will fail.

Get the word out! Find the people that already want what you have, and get in front of them. There is not a lack of ways to do this, so get out there and learn and MARKET.

How you get all of your work done, and discuss advertising so that you can get more business. You can also discuss things like how people fit their families into their home business. You too can discuss how important it might be to make sure that you are taking care of everything at home at the same time that you take care of your business.

Networking with Other Home Business Owners is a Great Way to Do Business.
No matter what you do in life you probably know that it is important to get ahead of the game and to find other people that share your interests that you can talk to. This is important whether you are thinking about work related things. Or even the hobbies that you enjoy. It is always a good idea to be friends with people who have children your same age. There are many stories and tips that you can share with each other.

The same goes for networking with other people who own home businesses. You might think that just because you are on your own and working from home, you don’t need any help and you don’t need anyone else to talk to. Do not forget that the home business world can be quite tricky. And if you don’t know exactly what you are doing, it might be easy for someone else to take advantage of you or your home business. You have to be able to compete, and you have to be able to have something that other people want. There are many websites that offer tips for home business owners, and through these websites you can meet lots of different people to network with. This is all something that you can do and it can all be something that enhances your business.

Home businesses come in many different shapes, sizes and forms. These types of businesses provide individuals with an alternative to the office job setting and provide various freedoms to the business owners as well. In fact, there are five often-cited ways in which a home business can make your life easier overall.

Child Care Issues

Perhaps one of the most often cited features of a home business which can make your life easier is that by owning a home business, individuals are able to work while staying at home with their children. This makes the need for daily child care a nonexistent factor. Although some individuals who work from home still opt for putting their kids in daycare, having a home business does make doing without child care a possibility.

Transportation Issues

Another way which home businesses can make a business owner’s life that much easier relates to transportation issues. When owning a home business, you can conduct your daily business affairs from the convenience of your home office. This gets rid of the need for commuting to an office each day and putting mileage on the car, not to mention paying costly gas bills. It is also a time saver with regard to not having to commute to and from work which is also a highly regarded trait of owning a home business.
