7 Tips On Becoming A Recognized Influencer

becoming a recognized influencer

One of the best ways to grow your brand and your business is by becoming a recognized influencer in your industry and on social media.

How do people react when they see your name and/or your logo? Do they immediately know who you are? Know what you do and the experience you have?

Being a recognized influencer carries a lot of responsibilities. You have to maintain a consistence presence and have the ability to solve problems your followers may have.

In today’s post, I am going to give you 7 tips on becoming a recognized influencer. Keep in mind that it will not happen overnight, but if you follow these tips, you will gain more followers and be recognized as a “go to” authority.

Becoming A Recognized Influencer Tip #1: Make Sure You Are In A Niche You Have Extreme Passion For

I see it time and time again… People see others doing well in niche areas and they assume if they “jump in” to that niche, they will become popular too. It could be like me seeing many doing great in cosmetics and trying to blog and post socially about the next huge thing in anti-aging cream.

I have no passion for that subject!

Cosmetics are a great thing and I know many who use them. That does not make me an authority figure and people would immediately see I have no desire to blog about such things.

Entrepreneurship is my passion!

And because I have a deep love for teaching entrepreneurship, those who want to become entrepreneurs follow Eric Tippetts.

Know your passion and let it guide you.

Becoming A Recognized Influencer Tip #2: Be Different Than The Others

It is called “bringing something new to the table.”

Elon Musk was interviewed about the reasoning people use in their social and blog posting:

  • Analogy – This is when people look at what has worked before and only use those methods. That is why you see similar blog posts saying the same things in different ways.
  • First Principles – Instead of just basing off past success or failure, this person looks at goals and objectives and bases their decisions only on those.

My opinion is, we should use both approaches. While we should examine what has worked (and hasn’t) in the past, we should always bring something new and different in that makes our followers think.

You just want to be a little different from the rest.

Becoming A Recognized Influencer Tip #3: Tell Your Story

When people come to read posts at erictippetts.com, they are not coming to hear stories about other entrepreneurs.

Sure, you can slip one in here and there, but the majority of stories need to be about you.

  • How did you get to where you are?
  • Who supported you along the way?
  • What tools did you use?
  • What successes did you have?
  • Failures?

Tell your story like I did in my book To The Top! – Yea, I had to plug it here!

Becoming A Recognized Influencer Tip #4: Use A Primary Channel

This is another ultra-important tip. So many people spread their influence thin by trying to be active on too many channels…

  • Facebook
  • Reddit
  • YouTube
  • Instagram
  • SnapChat
  • Linkedin
  • Pinterest
  • On and On…

Find one you are comfortable with and focus on that channel. Build a huge following there and you can add some secondary channels. But never “let down” your audience on your primary channel.

Becoming A Recognized Influencer Tip #5: Know Your Followers Deeply

Get to know your followers…

  • Ask them questions.
  • Send them congrats on achievements.
  • Give personal birthday and holiday messages.
  • Etc…

Build relationships and you will be amazed as your reach grows deeper and wider.

Becoming A Recognized Influencer Tip #6: Be Authentic

While we all probably have super heroes we love, you need to be real and not try to be the “perfect” super hero.

Be authentic!

Do not just answer a question with a possible answer that may not be right. Tell the person you are not sure. Be real and your followers will be real with you.

Becoming A Recognized Influencer Tip #7: Pay Attention To Trends In Your Industry

Google Trends can be quite helpful for influencers. This will allow you to post early on a trending subject that will most likely be useful to your audience.

Conclusion

I know that if you follow these tips, you can become a leading authority… A recognized influencer and your name and brand will be noticed and known.

What are your thoughts?

Do you have any questions?

Just post them below and remember… You are on a climb

Entrepreneur Facts And Fiction

It seems that in today’s world, everyone wants to be an entrepreneur. And it is commendable, but not everyone has what it takes to actually succeed as an entrepreneur.

When you mention entrepreneurship in circles, you are apt to hear many things and some will seem to contradict what another person said.

In today’s post, I am going to attempt to lead you down a path of enlightenment of truth… The facts.

Here are entrepreneur facts and fiction so you can make sure you know who to believe and who not to.

And to add to it, I am also adding some great quotes that relate to entrepreneurship.

An entrepreneur tends to bite off a little more than he can chew hoping he’ll quickly learn how to chew it.” Roy Ash

Entrepreneur Facts And Fiction: You Will Be Happier

No matter what people tell you either way on this one, I call it fiction because happiness is something that should come from within and not from the outside.

I have known many happy people that work a 9 to 5, 7 to 3, or even 6 to 6 everyday for someone else. I also have known unhappy people in the same type of position. This also is true for entrepreneurs. Some are happy and others are not.

It is my opinion that happiness is achieved when you feel you are contributing to the betterment of the human population and it can be through many ways… It does not mean having your own business, but it could.

“It’s fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure.” Bill Gates

Entrepreneur Facts And Fiction: The Key To Successful Entrepreneurship Is Passion

There may be some who would dare debate this FACT, but passion IS the key!

If we look back through time at entrepreneurs, most had many people saying can’t, won’t, shouldn’t and don’t. But because of their passion, they strove on through the clouds of negativity to discover a shining light of success at the end.

You see, if your only thought is money but you don’t have passion, you should probably find something you are passionate about because you will have better odds of succeeding.

“One of the huge mistakes people make is that they try to force an interest on themselves. You don’t choose your passions; your passions choose you.” Jeff Bezos

Entrepreneur Facts And Fiction: Entrepreneurs Are Gamblers

poker

I know that at some point you will hear something that equates to the line I mentioned.

It is true that starting a business has some risk, and I guess you could call that gambling. But if that is true, every adult in this world is therefore a gambler. Because you take a risk:

  • driving a car or even just walking,
  • buying a home,
  • investing in stock,
  • or even eating in a restaurant.

Nearly anything that provides us some sort of satisfaction does require some risk.

Now to me, a gambler is a person who tries to beat the odds. After all, in any casino, horse track or with a “bookie,” the odds are in their favor.

Entrepreneurs take calculated risks and do as much as possible to put the odds in their favor.

To win without risk is to triumph without glory.” Corneille

Entrepreneur Facts And Fiction: Entrepreneurs Can Start With Little Funding

While some entrepreneurs may go deep in debt, many successful entrepreneurs have started with very little. They may ask friends or family to invest small amounts and they bootstrap their way to success.

Statistics say the average start up begins with approximately $10,000.

If a budget is managed correctly, an entrepreneur can grow a profitable business that is self-sufficient.

The entrepreneur is essentially a visualizer and actualizer. He can visualize something, and when he visualizes it he sees exactly how to make it happen.” Robert L. Schwartz

Conclusion

The facts speak for themselves.

If you have an entrepreneur dream, be careful who you listen to and live the dream.

6 Tips To Help You Get Wealthy

get wealthy

It is something many people hope for but few people attain… Wealth… Financial freedom!

While money is not the answer to happiness, it can sure help. Just taking the financial stress away can add years to your life and put a smile on your face.

The path to wealth and financial freedom can be uphill and long, but some people have found shortcuts that turn that journey into a short, downhill one.

Here are 6 tips to help you get wealthy.

Get Wealthy Tip #1: Purchase Dividend Paying Growth Stocks

There are many who will tell you there is wealth in day trading… Some people may do okay with buying a stock, letting it rise slightly and selling it. But to have success, you have to be knowledgeable and have the time to do this.

My advice instead is to buy well managed stocks that pay quarterly dividends and just let them sit. And if you purchase a share or 2 say, per month, you will have a nice money producing portfolio in just a few years.

Get Wealthy Tip #2: Keep Learning

If you were to take a close look at some of the richest people in the world who are self-made wealthy people, you would find that they continue to learn new things even after they have “made it.”

Read books, watch videos, and attend courses.

Keep learning because the more you know, you have that many more possibilities of making money.

Get Wealthy Tip #3: Practice Conscious Spending

There is nothing wrong with spending for items that make you happy, but when you are mindlessly spending and not examining options, you are lessening the odds of financial freedom.

Take advantage of coupons and sales; look for generic versions of the same product, and ask yourself before you spend if it is something your truly need or want.

By doing so, you will find your savings healthier and your stress level lighter.

Get Wealthy Tip #4: Set And Write Down Your Goals

Without goals for your future, it is like traveling through the desert with no water. You will not last very long.

Make both short term and long term goals. Write them down. It is a proven fact that the people who write down their goals are more likely to attain them.

Get Wealthy Tip #5: Build On Your Strengths

While I mentioned that you should keep learning new things, it is ultra-important that you realize what your strengths are and you should build them even stronger and exploit them.

Now take that strength and get creative… Use it to build a business or teach others and charge premium rates for doing so.

Let’s say for an example that you have a skill of gardening. Everything you try to grow does well. Your friends say that you could grow bamboo in the middle of the Sahara.

So could you not start traveling and putting on gardening workshops? Or an online paid training? There are an outrageous amount of possibilities.

Exploit that strength and the money will follow.

Get Wealthy Tip #6: Do Not Raise Your Lifestyle When More Income Comes In

This is such an important tip… When people get a pay raise or find more money coming in, they have the tendency to raise their lifestyle habits and spend more money. Instead of hanging on to the 6 year old car that runs perfectly fine, they run out and purchase a new BMW upper their monthly payments.

Or, now we can afford that bigger house on 30 acres instead of the ranch style home we have on 2 acres.

Instead of Chili’s for the Friday night dinner, we will eat at that expensive French place Friday and the ultra expensive Italian restaurant on Sunday.

Doesn’t it make more sense to stay the same and invest in items with that extra money that will make you more money?

Conclusion

Getting wealthy simply comes down to common sense… Spend less and make more!

It really is not rocket science and if you follow these tips and use common sense, you can climb to the top of prosperity mountain. And, speaking of to the top, be sure to order my book of the same name by clicking here.

Have a great day and may you find true wealth, health and well being.

Marketing On Social Media – The Positives And Negatives

marketing on social media

No matter what type of business you have, you have probably considered marketing on social media. Odds are, you are marketing your brand and/or your products or services on at least 1 social media platform.

How is it working for you?

Like any type of marketing system, you will have positives and negatives… Pros and cons… So it is best that you “weigh” the positives and negatives to determine if marketing on social media is the right thing for you.

Today, I am going to take you through the most common positives and negatives of marketing on social media.

Hopefully, this post can help you determine if social media marketing is right for you.

Marketing On Social Media Positive – It Is Cost Efficient

While I don’t like to use the word cheap, social media marketing is less expensive than the majority of other marketing methods.

Unless you are purchasing ads, most social media accounts are free and are a great way to gain attention to your brand.

As for paid advertisements, these are cost efficient too and if done properly, can lead to more sales.

Marketing On Social Media Negative – Needs To Be Monitored Daily

We often talk about how social media can be a time waster.

The process of monitoring questions, comments and likes can take away from other need-to-do tasks.

The best way to solve this is to contract a virtual assistant who is trained and able to handle the questions and comments and competently monitor your social media.

Marketing On Social Media Positive – A Better Ability To Target

target market

I always like to use a billboard marketing approach… With a billboard, you have very little control over your target audience. After all, it is whoever drives by, Yes, you can gear the ad towards certain groups of people, but will they see it?

With social media advertising, you can choose a variety of factors on who sees your ad, when they see it and how they see it.

Marketing On Social Media Negative – A Risk Of Negative Publicity

If you thought the 1 or 2 bullies in school were bad, believe me, social media is chock full of bullies. There are many who have nothing better to do then to attack a business or brand even if they have no idea about that business.

You must not respond with aggressiveness. That can only make it worse.

Just point out facts and put them into a spot… An example could be: The “bully” says they bought your new rock tumbler and it was a piece of junk.

The way I would handle this is “Oh, I’m sorry you feel this way (name). We would like to make it right with you. I wanted to take care of this for you immediately and I cannot find a sales record under your name here on (social media site). If you could tell me the order number or name you ordered under, I will be happy to refund your purchase.”

The bully probably will not respond and other people have enough common sense to know the person was just attacking your business and had probably never bought one of your rock tumblers.

Marketing On Social Media Positive – Building Brand Loyalty

The fact that we build relationships on social media is an enticement for brand loyalty. As potential customers realize you are a normal person just like they are, they will become more loyal and supportive of your business.

Marketing On Social Media Negative – Sudden Changes In Platforms

It can be frustrating!

You have a social media marketing strategy that is working and suddenly, the platform is changed and puts wrinkles in your strategy.

The fact that you have no control over this means 1 of 2 decisions must be made:

  1. Quit the platform and use other marketing methods or,
  2. Make needed changes in your social media marketing strategy that is in line with the changes that were made.

Conclusion

I am a firm believer that nearly all businesses should have a social media marketing strategy. But I also believe that marketing via social media should not be your only marketing method. As is said, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.”

I hope this helps you in your social media marketing efforts.

One last thing… Do you operate a home based network marketing business? If you do, we developed the best lead system there is. Take a look at Rocket Recruiting Leads and see how we can help you grow your business.

Have a great day!

5 Tips On Making Your Business More Profitable

make your business more profitable

Naturally, the top goal in business is profits. But those profits must be “clean.” What I mean by that is, the customers must feel as if what they purchased was worth every cent.

Many businesses have been able to cut costs and maximize profits, but they have done so in unclean ways by taking the original quality from the product.

That is not the proper method to becoming more profitable, because you will damage your business and brand reputation.

In this post, I am going to share 5 “clean” tips on making your business more profitable.

Making Your Business More Profitable #1: Erase Activities That Are Not Adding Value To The Customer Or The Company

I suggest you take some time to list all the activities and tasks performed on any normal day in your business. Now describe how each one adds value to either the customer, company or both.

If you cannot find any way it adds value, it is probably erasable and will save the company money and time which means more profits.

Making Your Business More Profitable #2: Raise Prices By 2%

The majority of consumers understand that a business does have to occasionally raise prices. They may not like it, but they understand.

Your product or service is solving a problem for them and paying 2% more is not a drastic change. After all, you are paying $100 for something that helps you immensely, why won’t you go ahead and pay $102 for it?

Making Your Business More Profitable #3: Know Your Return On Investment With Every Resource

If you are going to contract a person, purchase a piece of machinery or integrate a software, you should have a good idea what the ROI (Return On Investment) will be.

If you are questioning the ROI, maybe you don’t need it or maybe you should request a trial run to see if it will actually help the business.

It makes no sense investing in something that does not add to the profit margin.

Making Your Business More Profitable #4: Cross And Up Selling

If you are not cross selling or up selling you are not doing it right!

The businesses that have great profits always have techniques to cross and up sell. Consider the local barber who tells you he can wash and blow dry your hair once he finishes cutting it for $2 more (up selling). And when you are at the cash register, he shows you the new shampoo and conditioner that is fantastic… A special deal for customers at 5% off when the purchase a haircut (cross sell).

Institute up and cross selling and watch your profits come up.

Making Your Business More Profitable #5: Have A Customer Loyalty Program

Experts have found that it can actually cost a company 3 times more to get new customers than it costs to keep selling to existing customers.

Something like buying 5 times gets you a 20% discount the 6th purchase will get you more sales and therefore get the business more profits.

Conclusion

I just touched on the edge of the many ways to get your business more profitable. Start with these and watch your profits come up.

I will touch more on this subject in a later post.

7 Tips For Discovering Your Passion

discovering your passion

I often talk about following your passion, but it has come to my attention that some people are slightly confused as to what their passion is.

Let’s help you discover your passion.

I am going to give you 7 tips on discovering your passion.

Discovering Your Passion Tip #1: What Would You Do If…

Just imagine if you had complete financial freedom.

What would you do?

How would you keep your mind and body busy?

However you would honestly answer that question could probably be considered your top passion.

Discovering Your Passion Tip #2: Take Short Courses

I love this method of finding your passion because at the same time, you are learning other skills you may be able to use at some later point in time.

You could find online courses or courses at a local community college. Just sign up for various courses and you will surely run across something you love.

  • Welding
  • Public speaking
  • Accounting
  • Sewing
  • Cooking
  • Etc….

Discovering Your Passion Tip #3: Hang Around People Who Are Following Their Passion

In some cases, the people we are around hold us back from truly following our passion. When you have an idea, do you feel they try to tell you every negative possibility or do they support you.

I suggest you find people who are following their passion and create a friendship. It doesn’t mean following their passion, but learning how they found their passion and how they proceeded to “feed” that passion.

Discovering Your Passion Tip #4: Follow Your “Gut”

The voices are everywhere… People telling us what to do, when and how to do it. But, is your gut instinct telling you to go a different direction?

If we were to interview people who followed the paths of the voices, we would find a big percentage of people doing something the dislike or even hate. And on the “flip side,” the ones who followed their gut are happy and satisfied.

Discovering Your Passion Tip #5: Let Morality Guide You

Many entrepreneurs have built successful businesses based on their moral compass. Maybe you have inner moral aspirations such as:

  • Helping others lose weight
  • Animal protection
  • Poverty
  • Or fossil fuels
  • Etc…

Take a look at your moral being and consider the fact that your passion may be hidden within.

Discovering Your Passion Tip #6: Put Passion Into Everything You Do

You see, passion is positive energy and it is a contagious thing. So by making each and everything you do passion filled, the passion will “rub off” into your mental processes helping you find your “absolute” passion.

So do this…

  • Get out of bed with passion
  • Brush your teeth with passion
  • Drive rush hour with passion (yea, that’s can be a tough one)
  • Etc…

If you don’t believe you can do it with passion, outsource or delegate it.

Discovering Your Passion Tip #7: Put It To The Test

Okay, you have the thought that a certain thing may be your passion…

Instead of just jumping in the Ocean with no life jacket, test it. Keep your job and give 2-3 hours each day to your passion business.

If, after 1 or 2 months you still feel that passion, Go For IT!

Conclusion

One other thing I must mention… Just because it is your passion does not mean everything will flow smoothly. The key is, if you are passionate about it, when roadblocks arise, you feel such a love for the passion, quitting or giving up is not an option. You will do everything in your power to overcome obstacles.

To give you a helping hand on the financial side of your passion business, we developed an app that will help you control your budget down to the penny.

Check out how The Expense Tracker can help you by clicking here.

I hope this helps you… If you have any questions, feel free to post them below.
