5 Decisions You Will Regret Forever

I wanted to write this blog titled “5 Decisions You Will Regret Forever” because I know that we make decisions everyday but I think sometimes we make “short term” decisions because of current challenges but don’t realize the effect these have on our long term goals of what we want to ultimately achieve.

“I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions.” –Stephen Covey

I read a recent article about a palliative care nurse and it hit me hard in the heart. STOP!  LIFE IS HAPPENING TODAY!

I feel that so many of us keep saying “one day”, “one day I will get started working out”.  “One day I will start my own business”.  “One day I will ask this person out”.  If you never get started, that “one day” will never happen!

Bronnie Ware spent her career as a palliative care nurse, working exclusively with people who were 3 to 12 months from death. She made a habit of asking them about their greatest regrets, and she heard the same five regrets time and time again. By studying these regrets, you can make certain that you make good choices and don’t fall victim to them yourself.

This was a great article from Travis Bradberry in Forbes Magazine:

#1 – They wish they hadn’t made decisions based on what other people think.

When you make your decisions based on other people’s opinions, two things tend to happen:

  1. You make a poor career choice: There are too many people out there who studied for a degree they regret or even spent their lives pursuing a career they regret. Whether you’re seeking parental approval or pursuing pay and prestige over passion, making a poor career choice is a decision that will live with you forever.
  2. You fail to uphold your morals: When you get too caught up in what your boss thinks of you, how much money you think your spouse needs to be happy, or how bad you will look if you fail, you are at high risk of violating your own morals. Your intense desire to make yourself look good compromises your ability to stay true to yourself and, ultimately, to feel good.

The best way to avoid falling prey to the opinions of others is to realize that other people’s opinions are just that—opinions. Regardless of how great or terrible they think you are, that’s only their opinion. Your true self-worth comes from within.

#2 – They wish they hadn’t worked so hard.

beach_lounge1

Working hard is a great way to impact the world, to learn, to grow, to feel accomplished, and sometimes even to find happiness, but it becomes a problem when you do so at the expense of the people closest to you. Ironically, we often work hard to make money for the people we care about without realizing that they value our company more than money. The key is to find a balance between doing what you love and being with the people you love. Otherwise you’ll look back one day and wish you’d focused more on the latter.

#3 – They wish they had expressed their feelings.

We’re taught as children that emotions are dangerous and that they must be bottled up and controlled. This usually works at first, but boxing up your feelings causes them to grow until they erupt. The best thing you can do is to put your feelings directly on the table. Though it’s painful to initiate, it forces you to be honest and transparent.

For example, if you feel as though you don’t make enough money at work, schedule a meeting with your boss and propose why you think you’re worth more. As a result, she will either agree with you and give you a raise or disagree and tell you what you do need to do to become more valuable. On the other hand, if you do nothing and let your feelings fester, this will hinder your performance and prevent you from reaching your goal.

#4 – They wish they had stayed in touch with their friends.

Todd Falcone and Eric Tippetts

When you get caught up in your weekly routine, it’s easy to lose sight of how important people are to you, especially those you have to make time for. Relationships with old friends are among the first things to fall off the table when we’re busy. This is unfortunate because spending time with friends is a major stress buster. Close friends bring you energy, fresh perspectives, and a sense of belonging, in a way that no one else can.

#5 – They wish they had let themselves be happy.

When your life is about to end, all the difficulties you’ve faced suddenly become trivial compared to the good times. This is because you realize that, more often than not, suffering is a choice. Unfortunately, most people realize this far too late. Although we all inevitably experience pain, how we react to our pain is completely under our control, as is our ability to experience joy. Learning to laugh, smile, and be happy (especially when stressed) is a challenge at times, but it’s one that’s worth every ounce of effort.

My Conclusion:

Don’t wait to live your life to the fullest.  Most people have things backwards.  They think “as soon as I make more money, I can be happy and live the life I want”.

WRONG!

The truth is “If I am happy and living life to the fullest I make more money”!  Happy attracts Happy.  You attract what you feel and the vibrations you give to others.  Start living your life with passion and design the life you would love to live and watch how it starts to manifest in your experiences.

I want so much love and happiness in this world and even when people think I am weird and cuckoo for believing in “energy” and “vibrations”….I won’t stop believing and sharing this with others.  I hope I inspire 1 person daily to not give up.  To keep pushing forward towards their dreams!

1 Simple Tip To Give You The Life You Dream Of! (and It Works!)

I listened to an audio book a couple months ago titled: The Morning Miracle for Salespeople – by Hal Elrod.  He gives many different perspectives from top Sales reps around the world and what secrets really took them to the top of their game.

One concept that really caught my ear and I have implemented it the last 2 months to be more conscious of it’s effects.  The concept is this:

“Be committed to your daily processes not the emotions of the results”

What this means is that if I focus on my daily process of meditation, exercise, follow up, and sales calls….even though that day might not have had “closes” or “sales” on those calls….I know that the daily consistency of working the processes will lead to the attraction of the results I am looking for.

I watch too many people do what I have always done, which is; get inspired and go out and do a ton of work and not see the results and get bummed out.  This creates high high’s and low low’s!  I was riding a roller coaster of inconsistency in my life both personal and professional.

Once I stopped worrying about the results and just focused on getting my processes completed daily…I started to see results come like crazy because I was consistent in building the foundation for massive growth.

Here’s my story or another way of looking at it.  I have always loved the ocean and sunshine.  As a young man, I went to Europe traveling from country to country and ended up running out of money.  I got a job renting out sunbeds and umbrella’s in IOS, Greece.  I would sit out in the sun all day with ZERO sunblock (typically putting baby oil on my face) to get the maximum suntan I could.  I absolutely damaged my skin but hey, I was young.  I love to surf and just be outdoors.  Because of these passions I have also damaged my face with the constant burns and no sunblock.

As I have gotten older, I have started to notice dark spots and melasma spots because of the damage on my skin.  So frustrating and it became so bad that I would sometimes wear my wife’s makeup just to hide the dark spots.

I was flying to Hong Kong and saw an ad for a product that uses “light”, green, yellow, and red light to penetrate your skin to start to repair damages from the past.

I started using it and saw zero results.  I was only supposed to use it for 30 seconds a day….but of course because I didn’t see immediate results I would do it for 2 minutes.  This just made my skin so dry and irritated.

So I committed to using it for 30 seconds a day, but everyday, and for 1 year.  Everyday as I woke up, I would wash my face and apply this light for 30 seconds on my face.

…Just 30 seconds a day!

About month 10, my wife said to me “Wow, that light is really working…your skin looks so clear”.  I kissed her and said that is the best compliment ever!  Lol!  It was just the fact that someone was noticing results and I was too.  There really wasn’t much results within the first 10 months but something happened by month 10-12.  My face literally had transformed and the dark spots were mostly gone!  The red and dark were virtually gone!

I have applied this 30 second process in my daily routine and my skin is younger looking today at 42 years old than it was at 30 year old.

I committed to the process daily not the result of the process each day.  The result came later when I had put the consistent work in.

I believe anyone can achieve anything….any result, if you commit to the process of achieving this result everyday without a timeline.  Just focus on the process….next thing you will lift your head up and have the results!

How You Can Become Process-Orientated

If you’re seriously committed to your goals, it isn’t enough to occasionally attempt new behaviors: You need to decide what you want and identify the behaviors of the kind of person who already has it. You must make those behaviors daily habits and a part of your identity.

When you commit to a process over an outcome, you redirect your focus on what is within you inner locus of control; discipline, motivation and organization to name a few, drive the actions needed to necessitate the outcome you’re moving towards.

If your outcome is to write a book, your process isn’t to write when you feel inspired, it’s to become a writer; the kind of person who writes daily, regardless of their motivation, and is focused on improving their craft.

If you outcome is to quit your job and start your own business, your process isn’t to develop your business when you’re bored, it’s to become an entrepreneur; the kind of person who grows their business every day because that’s what they’re passionate about.

If your outcome is to lose weight, your process isn’t to become a dieter (the word “dieter” implies you’re not in it for the long haul) it’s to become a foodie; the kind of person who loves eating healthy food and doesn’t need to resist the temptation of fatty foods: Given the choice, it’s a no-brainer.

A Final Word

When you’re committed to the process, you always win because you’re improving daily. You’re constantly moving towards what you want because of the tiny actions you’re taking. There is one caveat to this: You have to constantly and never-ending improve the process you’re using.

Galt’s Law argues any complex system evolved from the one that preceded it, so err on the side of simplicity to begin with. Don’t make it overly complicated by setting yourself unrealistic expectations, you can always improve it.

In other words, if you want to become a writer, don’t decide to write 1,000 words every day if you’ve never done it before. Write 100 and gradually increase it when you feel ready. Don’t burn yourself out, you’re in it for the long-term, remember?

In closing, decide what you want and the kind of person you’re going to have to be. Ask yourself: “What am I going to have to do consistently in order to have what I want” and commit to the process that’ll help you achieve it and refine it along the way.

The outcome – or one you haven’t even considered – will inevitably be a positive one. That, you can believe in.

Start a Thankful Vase To Create an Environment of Gratitude

asia thankful vase

The Power of Being Thankful and Showing Gratitude

Just a quick reminder to create a Thankful Vase that reminds you daily of all the incredible people/experiences in your life.

Our family implemented this daily routine of writing down on a piece of paper all the things we were thankful for that day and what we want to attract and be thankful for tomorrow.

We have noticed that not only we became a much closer family by discussing these “thankful notes” with each other.  It also created a very appreciative and thankful daughter.

I am a believer that we attract into our life experiences the things we think about most.  When you write down all the experiences show gratitude for daily…you start to attractmore of those things you want and show gratitude towards.

to_the_top-highres2

This daily routine can make a huge impact in your Network Marketing Success as you start to realize and become conscious of all the good that is happening with your business.  It will also keep you focused on taking action on making sure you accomplish items daily to move your Network Marketing business forward.  This gives you confidence and conviction to talk to others as they can feel your passion, confidence, and excitement.

In a previous blog, I talk about how to attract anyone to you.  The key emotion is your confidence and happiness in your life…in yourself.  Being Thankful daily will create this sense of confidence that you have a life to be proud of and passionate about.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
– Melody Beattie

Life is amazing!  Enjoy the ups and downs and become an up-lifter to others.

Book of The Month Review – The Ultimate Sales Machine by Chet Holmes

Ultimate Sales Machine by Chet Holmes

Book of The Month Review:

The Ultimate Sales Machine by Chet Holmes:

  • You can profoundly improve your company if you absolutely commit one hour a week in which you do nothing else than work on making the business much more effective.
  • We all get good ideas going to seminars and from books and business-building gurus. The problem is that most companies do not know how to identify and adapt the best ideas to their businesses. Implementation, not ideas, is the key to real success.
  • To do’s, tasks, and deadlines must be assigned after every meeting. But the key is not to ask for too much to be completed. Make the gains small but constant. If you are having the meeting every week and you are making small incremental gains each and every week, think of the profound transformation you’re going to have in 52 weeks.

The 6 steps to great time management

  1. Touch it once
    • If you spend just 15 minutes a day to revisit, readdress or reread documents or emails, you will waste 97 hours per year where no action is taken.
    • If you touch it, take action.  Don’t open that email or letter until you’re ready to deal with it.
    • Make it company policy that insists on very descriptive subject lines for all emails
  2. Make daily lists of the 6 most important tasks to complete
  3. Plan how long each task will take
    • 6 tasks at 1 hour each is ideal
  4. Plan the day by assigning time slots for accomplishing each task
  5. Prioritize. Focus on the difficult projects first
    • Even people in reactive positions should still plan realistically for some proactive tasks that can get done each day to move things forward or improve the company or your job.
  6. Ask yourself “will it hurt me to throw this away?”
    • 80% of all files or stored information is never referred to again. So why hold on to it?

10 Steps to Implement Any New Policy

  1. Get everyone to feel the pain
    • Ask how many people in the room would like to solve these challenges. “What if there were ways to solve these challenges but they required you to gain an entirely new learning curve?  What if it took a little extra work in the beginning to gain this learning curve, but, once you had it, it would dramatically reduce many if not all of these challenges? How many here would look forward to the new learning curve?”
    • Addressing questions like these to the group get’s buy-in
    • Also, ask them to write down “what are the drawbacks of not changing or improving this behavior”. This intensifies their own pain.
  2. Hold a workshop to generate solutions
  3. Develop a “Conceptual Solution or Procedure”
    • If the team has different answers to questions such as “how do we address customer complaints?”, “how many up-sells do we have and how many different ways do we offer them?”. Then its time to implement a policy that everyone follows.
  4. Leader or top talent personally performs procedure or task
    • Test new ideas with your top performers
  5. Set a deadline for testing the Conceptual Procedure
    • Set a weekly meeting to check progress
  6. Document step-by-step procedure or process
    • Even if your company or department is small, put procedures in place as if you were going to hire 50 new people to take them through it (this forces you to detail every step).
  7. Have show and tell and role playing
  8. Have another workshop on how to improve
    • Which may reveal great suggestions that were ignored by immediate supervisors
  9. Monitor the procedure directly
    • Record telephone conversations to review. Monitor weekly or daily. Observe and correct behaviour
  10. Measure and reward the outcome
    • People respect what you inspect

The buying pyramid

  • At any one time, for any product or service, 3% are buying now
  • 7% are open to the idea of buying. They may be dissatisfied with their current item or provider and are not opposed to change.
  • The remaining 90% are in 3 categories. The top 1/3rd are not against it, nor for it, just “thinking about it”.  They won’t respond to your office equipment ad because they are just not thinking about office equipment right now.
  • The next 1/3rd “think they’re not interested”.  They are not neutral like the first third, they would reply “I don’t think I’m interest in office equipment.”
  • The final 1/3rd are “defiantly not interested”. They are happy with what they have or just simply know they don’t need it. If the 10 year old copier is not broken, why fix it?
  • What can you write as your stadium pitch title or ad, that would appeal to the entire pyramid of potential buyers?
  • “The five ways our office equipment can benefit you” will only appeal to 10%
  • “The five ways you’re wasting money in your operations and administration”. May not rivet the executives to their chairs but they are not leaving. They will stay to hear a little more.  It appeals to everyone in the pyramid because everyone is interested in saving money in their operations and administration costs.
  • The hardest thing we need to do today is grab the attention of potential buyers and keep their attention long enough to help them buy your product.
  • The approach of offering some education of value to them gives you a significant opportunity to attract more buyers and build more credibility. It’s called “education-based marketing”.
  • You will attract way more buyers if you are offering to teach them something of value to them than you will eve attract by simply trying to sell them your product or service.

The pitch for the free information session has the following components

  • If you really want to serve your market, do some research that will benefit them.
  • Just like Zeald or Holloway Advertising

“Hi, I’m with xyz. We have a new program to teach business owners like you how to be more successful. Have you heard about this program?

Since we rely on the success of local businesses, as do you and everyone else in this community, we feel it’s our obligation to make sure local businesses are as successful as possible. So we’ve actually underwritten the cost of an education program that show you the five most common reasons that businesses fail, and seven ways to become the mos popular [type of business]. In the next few weeks, we’re going to be showing this to every other [type of competitors] in the community and thought you might want to make sure you’re learning the same things. Would you be interested in being more successful in your business and guarding yourself against the types of things that put [your type of business] out of business?

I’m one of the speakers who put on this program. We are going around all [type of business] over the next few weeks to present this information. [Or “we are in touch with other [type of business] around the city to show them this information] The content takes about 38 minutes, we come to you, but we need to choose a time that we won’t be disturbed. What’s a time when you can sit and have a good educational experience without being interrupted?

Would Wednesday or Friday suit you better?  Now this is a very expensive program for us, but there’s no cost to you. We thrive is our local community thrives. So we only have on condition, you’ve agreed to attend on Wednesday so please give us 24 hours notice to fill your seat if you can’t come.  Does that sound fair?”

Tip: When you sell you break rapport, but when you educate, you build it.

The problem with a USP

  • The problem with the Unique Selling Proposition is that it is focused on you. It asks the question “what is special about us or what do we have or do better than our competitors?”
  • Move from being focused on yourself to being focused on your buyer.

Market data is way more motivational than product data.

  • Look for statistical trends over time.
  • Use government statistics as the source.
  • Look for the “smoking gun” that makes your competitors look bad

How to attract superstars

  • Use the highest possible salary in the ad.  With average salary’s you will only attract average salespeople.
  • When they apply for the job, reject them.  If the crumble and go away before you hire them, you see what they are made of. A superstar will question your reasoning and may even tell you that you are wrong.

Even the 3% who are buying now won’t respond to a single direct mail

  • Really get their attention.
  • Choose your dream 100 prospects and send a quirky gift with a quirky message every month for 6 months. Eg: Rubik’s Cube and the note “Puzzled about how to double or triple employee productivity? We guarantee to find you 12 ways to reduce costs or increase productivity or we’ll give you a $5,000 gift for your trouble”  Make follow-up calls.
  • If you continue to market to someone with great vigour, they will absolutely get to know who you are.  If they tell you no again and again and you keep marketing and selling to them, they will get to know you and feel obligated to give you some business because no one has marketed to them with such force before.
  • More gift ideas: flash-light, compass, tape measure
  • Keep them inexpensive. Expensive gifts come off like you’re trying to bribe them. Cheap is better, the prospect smiles at the gesture and doesn’t feel bribed
  • They should be useful – things they will wan tot keep or play with or take home for a kid
  • The letter that accompanies the gift should be short, should tie into the gift in a clever way. Offer something that they can easily say yes too. With a call to action.
  • Phone to follow up after every delivery. The goal is to schedule an appointment to get your core story in front of the prospect. Don’t make the mistake in the letter of saying in a letter “we want to come and present to you”. That’s a much bigger sale to make from a mere letter.  Just offer the free report.

Rules for Advertising

  • It must be distinctive
  • Capture attention with a screaming headline
  • After the headline has hooked them, your body copy has to keep them reading
    • Don’t make the mistake of focusing on yourself. Unfold the story and make them want to read on. The body should be benefit-oriented. Don’t tell them what it is, tell them why it is valuable
  • Include a coupon. It is a noncommittal way of responding. Actually making a phone call means you will have to engage with a salesperson – something you might not want to do at that time. Coupons always increase response over ads that don’t have one.

Brochures

  • Most brochures are a waste of money. They are totally focused on you instead of the buyer. They are ego pieces.  Instead say something like “The five most dangerous trends facing apartment building owners and how to maximise your apartment building asset”.

Public Speaking

  • If you have a powerful core story you will be able to speak at an industry event. But not if you just want to talk about your product or service.

Presentations

  • Don’t thank prospects for their time or apologize for taking it
    • It show that you consider their time more valuable than yours. It also suggest to them that listening to you is far less important than other tings they could be doing. It belittles everything you have to say. If you do a good job, then they will thank you.
  • If using PowerPoint:
    • Unfold the information in a way that keeps the audience curious.
    • Give them a fact first and follow it with an explanation.
    • Continually pre-sell the rest of the presentation throughout the presentation. Keep alluding to information yet to come. Eg “And this means you have some serious competition, but the news gets worse when I show you the next point”.
  • Never blatantly pitch your product. You should only use it as an example. But, you can help them set up buying criteria in your favor “What to look for if you need to buy xyz”

Affiliates, reciprocal arrangements

  • How can you work with great affiliates? What can you offer their customers and what can you offer theirs?

How to get through to the decision maker

  • Use a very authoritative voice. Tell the assistant what to do, do not ask them.
  • Another secret is to get the gatekeeper back as many times as you can with very little information. Eg “Can I ask what the call is in reference too?”, “Just tell him its Eric calling”. “Just tell him I’m from XYZ company, that might job his memory” “Just tell him I’m following up on some correspondence I sent him, that should be enough”
  • When you get through, don’t turn into a salesperson “How are you today?”. Maintain your authority. Have a fantastic 2 minute opening worked out. Be clever, be confident.

7 Steps in Selling

  1. Establish rapport
    • Providing information that helps your client succeed helps you build trust and respect.
    • Ask great questions to find common interests and get personal
    • Have a sense of humor
    • Commiserate
    • Be empathetic and care about them. Be more interested in them than anyone else has ever been. If you want to be fascinating, be fascinated.
    • Find the common ground
    • Mirror body language and tonality
  2. Qualify the buyer (find the need)
    • Find out what they are looking for in your product or serve and what factors will influence them to buy. Learn about their current buying criteria, but also reset it so that your product or service is the logical choice
    • Develop the 6 to 10 questions that you would like to know about every prospect
    • Eg when selling advertising “How do your customers find out about you right now? What’s the most effective way you have for gaining new clients? What’s the amount of your average sale (to cost justify divide the cost of the advertising by the sale price to get the number of sales required to break even). What are the three biggest problems you’re having in [your area of business] – get their pain and help solve it. How long have you worked here? How’d you get started? What are your goals from your company? What are your goals for yourself? What are your criteria for making a decision about buying a product or service like ours?
  3. Build value
    • Teach them something valuable
  4. Create desire
    • Lead them through a series of question in which you intensify their need from their perspective
    • Present killer data that truly motivate your buyer to take action now
    • Help them to see that their current situation is unacceptable with a combination of problems and solutions with market data and your core story
  5. Overcome objections

Rocket Recruiting version 2.0

    • The idea is to qualify the buyers criteria before you start to sell
    • Ask questions such as “what is your biggest marketing challenge? What would it be worth to you if this challenge could be fixed forever? What does it cost you to not fix this problem?
    • Always agree with an objection.  “Well, that’s certainly a good reason not to invest in this today. [meaningful pause] But let me ask you: Is money the only thing standing between you and the purchase of this product?”  If there are more objections they will surface here. If not the client will say “No, if I could afford it, I’d buy it”. This is called isolating the objection.  “So if I can find a way for you to afford this product, you will buy it?”
  1. Close the sale
    • If you truly believe that your prospect should benefit from your product or service, it’s your moral obligation to help them make a decision and get on with their lives.
  2. Follow-up
    • Next…

10 steps to great follow up

  1. Get a letter off to your client within an hour or two of your meeting. Fax it off for extra speed.
    Letter structure:

    • Start with something personal that you remember
    • Include a compliment
    • Push their hot buttons and stay focused on the benefits your product or service offers them eg “with the challenges you face, it seems clear that six of our machines is exactly what you need. You will reduce costs, speed up productivity and most important, relive a lot of stress for quite a few people. I’m checking how fast we can move on this one.”
    • Use a personal close. Eg “One again, it was great meeting you. I have a few ideas about some other productively issues that I know you will like.”
  2. Make the first follow up call.  You are trying to bond so offer something of value.
  3. Share something amusing or of personal interest. Don’t sell, just build rapport with a cartoon or article
  4. Throw a party, share a meal and bond like crazy
  5. Send another fax/email/letter/card. To get top of mind. Be personal and complimentary and tell them what the next step will be in your relationship.
  6. Plan something fun that can include the family
  7. Offer something to help their business. Can you hook up two clients to form a referral network?
  8. Send another fax/email/letter/card
  9. Offer more help to succeed. Take them to a seminar? Help them find new personnel, alert them to important trends in their market. Become a valuable asset and trusted confidant.
  10. The ultimate follow-up: invite them to your home or be invited to theirs

5 Top Secrets to Being a Successful Entrepreneur AND Being Happy!

Being a Successful Entrepreneur and BEING Happy?  Is it Possible?

You might think that success and happiness go together, but the truth is that many people struggle with finding happiness, once they’ve reached their goals – or while they’re pushing their way there.

So, can you be a successful entrepreneur, while being happy? The short answer is: yes! The first thing you need to learn is not to focus too much on your goal, but instead pursue your drive and motivation. This will automatically help you feel content and happy with yourself, without feeling overworked. The best advice you can be given is to love the practice of working – learn to love the struggles and challenges, instead of fearing them, or seeing them as obstacles between you and your goals.

Keeping yourself healthy/ keeping yourself happy should be major concerns for any entrepreneur as happiness will keep you productive and ensure a longer career.

Here are my 5 top secrets to being a successful entrepreneur and being happy:

1. Give Back

Just because you’re a successful entrepreneur it doesn’t mean that you need to keep all of the money for yourself. Donate money when possible and see what you can do to help your local community. While most entrepreneurs hold onto their money to make sure that their business can keep going, giving just a small percentage of it can make you feel appreciated in the community.  Also, I am 100% believer in money flows.  Meaning, if you hold onto your money so tight, there is no way more money can flow your way.  I have found 110% of the time…when I give money, I get back more money shortly!  Try it!

2. Take Time for You and Your Family

Overworking yourself as an entrepreneur can lead to burnout very quickly, it is a huge risk to your own physical and mental health to work a super long work week of 60 to 100 hours and spend time away from your family to get tasks completed. Don’t be afraid to take breaks whether it is a long weekend vacation or just a few 10 min. breathers throughout the day to call your family or friends.

I recently posted a story called “5 Decisions You Will Regret Forever” with Bronnie Ware, a palliative care nurse, working exclusively with people who were 3 to 12 months from death. She made a habit of asking them about their greatest regrets, and she heard the same five regrets time and time again. By studying these regrets, you can make certain that you make good choices and don’t fall victim to them yourself.

Guess what one of the top regrets were: They wish they hadn’t worked so hard.

3. Delegate to Trusted Professionals

When you can hire people in your company that you can really count on you know that it will be easier to take breaks. You can also be far less stressed about day-to-day operations when someone extremely qualified can complete tasks for you.

In today’s world, there are so many options to outsource to professionals for very little expense.  upwork.com, elance.com, fiverr.com, and many more.

Try it for a small project.  Website design.  Facebook banner or cover.  Business card design.  And so much more….

4. Remember That Failure is a Part of Business

It can be really easy to get stressed when you face failure, try not to dwell too long on failures and don’t let them overcome you. Try to keep a positive attitude in entrepreneurship and remember that failure will happen but it is what you take away from failure that will improve your business for the future.

Fail Forward.  Meaning, make tons of failures as these move you forward in growth.  100% of successful people have made mistakes and had failures.  This is knowledge that helps you growth and become that much more valuable to others.  Mistakes also build character.  They shape your lives into who you want to become.

5. Say No When You Have Too

Taking on more than you are equipped to handle can be a big risk in entrepreneurship. If you have to refuse a particular job because you don’t have the resources or time to complete it, don’t be afraid to.

This is a really big one for me when I thought of how to be successful AND happy.  I know so many super successful executives that are super depressed and unhappy.  How?  They have so much money, influence, power, friends, blah, blah, blah but they have no time.  You can’t get back time. When you are always overbooked and overworked…you lose the ability to enjoy life.  I love to say “yes” but I have also learned to say “no” when it does not serve my mission and takes me off course to reaching my goals.

In an article

This is an insert from Kimanzi’s article:

Here are a few of the myths that might be holding you back.

1. Happiness is a destination.

I always thought of happiness as a finish line. I thought it started with working on my major life goals, and when I accomplished them, I would “reach” happiness. Beginning to explore the idea of happiness in literature and with people wiser than I, I began to accept that happiness is not dependent on circumstance. It’s dependent on mindset.

You don’t have to achieve your biggest goals and dreams before you can be happy. The journey to those achievements is filled with opportunities for joy. Life doesn’t always play fair. It might have dealt you a tough hand. But that isn’t a barrier to happiness. It’s an opportunity to adjust your attitude and find satisfaction in the slivers of light that shine so much more brightly in the dark. Nothing is more satisfying than enjoying happiness after every punch you take.

2. You can be happy without money.

For a large portion of my life, I’ve been broke. Correction: more than broke. I owed money to family, friends, and companies and was constantly stressed about how I was going to pay the bills.

In 2012, I started a lifestyle business. I write, speak, and consult. The business grew and allowed me to pay off all my debt. With the debt paid off and enough money to live comfortably, I learned that although money doesn’t lead to happiness, it IS a part of the happiness equation.

You can’t enjoy the little things when you’re constantly stressed about having enough money to pay your bills. You don’t need to be a millionaire or even make six figures, but you do have to have enough money to free yourself from financial stress. Liberating yourself from worry is crucial to lasting happiness.

3. Your relationships don’t determine your happiness.

Love is one of life’s most exquisite gifts. But it can break your heart. I have experienced both. I was convinced that I could be happy despite everything inside of me screaming in pain from lost love. I was wrong.

Your relationships can and will affect your happiness.

It’s important to end any toxic relationships and embrace the ones that make your life better. Get honest with yourself about the relationships in your life. If they make you unhappy more often than they make you happy, it might be time to reassess their value.

4. I, personally, cannot be happy because…

I could insert hundreds of reasons I thought happiness was out of reach — the abuse, the lack of education, the series of disheartening jobs — they all painted a picture that happiness just wasn’t in the cards for me.

Your beliefs directly affect your decisions and actions. If you don’t believe happiness is possible for you, trying to make choices that lead to happiness will seem ridiculous.

Happiness starts in your mind and manifests in your actions. Don’t let self-limiting beliefs convince you that you can’t have what you want. You can be happy.

Happiness is a decision you can make right now. You can wake up each day determined to choose happiness and do the work to make happiness your reality.

You have a choice everyday you wake up, everyday!  You can be happy or unhappy.  Whichever you choose, your right.  It all starts with you.

You Can Either Live Your Dreams or Live Your Fears. It’s Your Choice!

For those of you that have a dream that you’re working towards, and maybe things are getting in the way, or success is not coming to you as quickly as you would have liked; stay focused.

Stay focused on your dreams!

If you are in Network Marketing, stay focused and committed to the process and enjoy the journey.

It’s necessary that you align yourself with people that are living their dreams! Get the losers out of your life.

Birds of a feather, flock together.  If you surround yourself with losers, you will become a loser.

Ron Carson released a book on Tuesday, January 19, 2016. The book is titled, “The Sustainable Edge.” In the light of the book’s release, Danny Toney interviewed Mr. Carson.

One of his key points is Networking:

“Don’t have too big of a network that doesn’t mean anything,” Carson suggests. Having a great network requires you to be a great person and friend. People will not want to associate with you if you are always trying to use them. It is also important to realize that you have limited resources, time being one of the largest. Therefore, having a network that is smaller and extremely meaningful to you is vital. Also remember to “dig your well before you are thirsty.” Networking takes time because building relationships takes time. Don’t be a person who networks like crazy only after you lose your job or are trying to get into an elite grad school. Network now, whether you have a direct need or not.

You have a choice each day, live my dreams or live my fears.  You Choose!

So much love,

Eric
