5 Priorities For New Entrepreneurs

priority

I have noticed new entrepreneurs can easily be pulled in wrong directions. When you look at the internet, there are tons of articles telling entrepreneurs to do this, do that… Buy this tool… Use this software.

And some of those tools and some of that software may be helpful in your business goals, but you need to prioritize. You need to make sure your Return On Investment is satisfactory and that the tool does exactly what it claims it will do.

The reason I am writing this is because I looked back to when I was first starting… I was mislead a time or two.

And one of the things I quickly learned was to use lessons from those who traveled the entrepreneurial path before me.

I want to help you not get overwhelmed. So in today’s post, I am going to share 5 priorities for new entrepreneurs.

Priorities For New Entrepreneurs #1: Set A Non-Material Goal

It seems like every new entrepreneur sets goals like:

  • Buy a $450,000 home in 4 years
  • That Corvette at the dealer will be mine in 1 year
  • Or anything of a material nature

There is nothing wrong with goals like those. But the issue is, you could lower your expectation easily…

  • I’ll settle for a $175,000 home
  • Okay, I’ll buy the Tacoma

What you really need to start with is a non-material goal; a goal you cannot lower.

Something like, I will change the attitudes of people towards blockchain technology or multilevel marketing.

If you set a goal similar to that, you will be chasing something that will provide passion and not just a new toy.

Priorities For New Entrepreneurs #2: Know Your Customer

Here is an area where many new entrepreneurs fail at… You don’t want to build a product or create a service just because you “think” it will be a great thing.

Maybe it is great but…

Will it sell?

Is it truly what your customers need or want?

Before you create, know your potential customers. What are their problems they need solved? If you can make their lives easier, you have a better chance of success.

Priorities For New Entrepreneurs #3: Your Well Being

How can you help other people if you are not helping yourself first? You must be in shape physically, mentally and emotionally.

This means:

  • eating right,
  • exercising,
  • sleeping properly,
  • dealing with feelings,
  • etc…

Priorities For New Entrepreneurs #4: Have A Learning Attitude

I had to list this because a large percentage of entrepreneurs have a penchant of thinking they “know it all.”

Let me be the one to break that bubble… We don’t know even one “inkling” of what we should know.

Learning should be a daily task.

I suggest you set aside some time each day to learn…

  • Get a mentor,
  • Read books,
  • Watch videos,
  • Join in on webinars,
  • Attend seminars,
  • etc…

Priorities For New Entrepreneurs #5: Build The List

You should always be striving to add potential customers to your list. Having a Rolodex full of names and contacting these people at times will result in continuing revenues.

So how do you build a list?

There are many ways to add people to your list; blog subscriptions, contests, etc., all work.

We recognized this need and developed a system that will deliver you leads. These are all personally called to ensure they are ready to “hook up” with your business.

Just visit Rocket Recruiting leads here and we can help you fill that Rolodex.

Conclusion

I hope this helps you on your journey as an entrepreneur.

If you have any questions or feedback, just leave them below.

Thank you as we all journey…

Position Yourself For Success – 6 Tips

You, your product or service and your brand could be the best thing the world has going, but if you don’t have positioning, success could be… no, probably will be non-existent.

Even if you don’t have perfection mastered (who does?), if you have a solid position, you are poised to “win” at entrepreneurship; you will have business success!

So how exactly do you position yourself for success?

Here are 6 tips…

Position Yourself For Success Tip #1: Develop A Success Mindset

This is the absolute top tip in this post!

It all starts with your mind. If you believe you can, you have 80% of the ballgame won. If you doubt yourself, you are starting on the wrong foot.

This is one of the top areas I delve into in my book, To The Top. Get a copy here and let me educate you further.

Position Yourself For Success Tip #2: Get, And Stay In Shape Physically

You must be at the top of your game physically to be able to handle the pressures and high speed of the business world.

I would suggest that you set aside time each day to get physical exercise.

You will soon notice that as you get in shape, you will be in a better position to lead your team to success.

Position Yourself For Success Tip #3: Appearance

Let’s be completely honest here… Humans naturally judge by first impressions. Appearance is an important success positioning item. And I say appearance of everything I mentioned near the start of this article…

  • How you personally look and dress.
  • What the color, texture and other attributes of your product are.
  • Your brand logo and colors

There have been some excellent products developed but because their color was un-appealing or the texture wrong in the minds of consumers, they became failures.

The same falls true with your personal appearance. How you groom and dress can attract or detract potential customers. Plus, you will feel better about yourself if you have a clean, professional appearance.

Position Yourself For Success Tip #4: Give To Get

It is one of the natural laws of the universe, those who give will receive.

There are many ways you can give that will position you for success:

  • Give free education that is directly related to your products or services.
  • Refer customers to other businesses.
  • Give free samples.
  • Etc…

Just know that giving comes back to you in fantastic ways. It will position you for success!

Position Yourself For Success Tip #5: Set Standards

There is an old saying that states, the human that doesn’t stand for something will fall for anything.

If you really want to position yourself for success, you will set standards in accordance with your values and ethics.

You will want to make sure that you, your employees and/or contractors maintain these standards at all times.

And The Last Position Yourself For Success Tip: #6: Be Yourself

Doing it just like the competition is not the way to gain success!

Trying to act just like someone else is not the way to position yourself for success!

The best way to position yourself for success is to just be yourself.

  • Do what you do!
  • Say what you say!
  • Act how you act!

Conclusion

The fact of the matter is, it all depends on your passion and desire!

Success is within reach but you have to do exactly that…

Reach!

I hope this inspired you.

If you have any questions or just want to say hi, you can do so in the comment area below. And please share this with others who can use some inspiring.

Thank you.

5 Ways You Can Impact Humans And Create Change In The World

sky diving

Every day of our existence, we have a serious choice we must make. Some people don’t realize they must make this choice daily, but they still do choose.

What is this decision we must make?

We can choose to allow the world and humanity “spin” without our input, or we can do our part and assist humans in the spinning process.

Secondly, we also have the choice to do our part in a negative way, positive way or we can just ride along allowing others to control how it all rotates.

No, the world does not spin around any one person; all of us can have an impact on the rotation.

But the first key is knowing you DO have the power to have an impact. No matter your education, political influence, bank account or even the clothes you wear, you DO have the ability to impact humans and create change in the world.

I am going to share 5 ways…

Impact Humans And Create Change #1: Find One Small Problem To Solve

Look around you!

Take your eyes off the smartphone, television or computer for a change and discover there are problems that need solving. It doesn’t have to be a huge problem. Find a small problem and solve it.

Impact Humans And Create Change #2: Live In Positivity

Everywhere we look, we can find negatives…

  • politics
  • religion
  • wars
  • crime
  • etc…

But hey, there are great things happening too! There are positive things, so don’t fall into the negative trap… Live in positivity and you will impact humans!

Impact Humans And Create Change #3: Smile

It is simply amazing how a smile can impact strangers and ultimately change the world.

This goes hand-in-hand with #2 because smiles and positivity work as a team.

It doesn’t cost anything to flash a smile and you may help someone have a whole new outlook on life.

Impact Humans And Create Change #4: Feed A Homeless Person

We live in a world where many people assume they are judge, jury and executioner. Many see a homeless person and immediately assume it was a result of drugs, alcohol or something of that sort.

We really do not know why they are in that position and does it really makes sense that we “punish” them further even if they made some bad choices?

We can impact their lives and change the world with a simple act of kindness. A low cost burger and fries can help them know there are STILL good people in the world.

Impact Humans And Create Change #5: Stay True To Your Ethics

Each and every one of us have a code of ethics we live by. And not every person’s ethics are the same… That’s cool!

What isn’t cool is when you know a person has certain beliefs but breaks those beliefs or ethics in the name of money or some other gratuity.

What happens is respect is lost for that individual. Even people who don’t agree with your ethics will disrespect you if you break the same ethics they disagree with.

Conclusion

These are just 5 small ways you can impact humans and create change in the world. I will be expanding on this subject in the future, but start with these and you will see subtle changes in how people in the world treat you.

One way that I made an impact was the problem I saw with people and their finances. So I developed the Expense Tracker which has helped many people handle their finances in a wiser way.

Check out the Expense Tracker here.

So glad you came by today… Be sure and share this with others. Let’s all start climbing…

4 Tips For Achieving And Living Your Dreams

What kind of dreams do you have?

  • Traveling to far off lands?
  • Owning a prestigious home on a mountain in Utah?
  • A garage full of antique automobiles?
  • Etc…

What is holding you back from living your dreams?

The most common answer is money but even people who have the money are not living their dreams.

While I have not “perfected” the dream living lifestyle, I do believe I have discovered some essentials. I am doing the things I love to do and often I feel as if I am living within my dreams. I also believe I can help you do the same.

Don’t give up on your dreams, or your dreams will give up on you.” John Wooden

Keep in mind that this counts only for good dreams… Nightmares don’t count. If your dreams are nightmares, the first step is deleting the negatives in your life. A positive mindset and surrounding yourself with positive people and positive energy will “kill” the nightmares and enliven good and healthy dreams.

Here are 4 tips for achieving and living your dreams.

To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe.” Anatole France

Living Your Dreams Tip #1: Allow Yourself To Dream

Dreams are not just something that comes when you lay your head on the pillow. Dreams are anytime, anywhere and if you are always shutting those dreams down, how can you achieve and live them?

So do yourself a favor… Allow your mind to wander; allow it to dream. Yes, there are times when daydreaming is not proper (a meeting with investors or things similar), but you do need to set aside time to be alone with just you and your dreams.

Now dive in and see what your dream really wants for you. Small or big, you need to know what it is that your dream says you want.

“Don’t let small minds convince you that your dreams are too big.” Unknown

Living Your Dreams Tip #2: What Are The Potential Obstacles?

Now that you know the dream… What you truly want to achieve… It is time to list out the potential obstacles that could keep you from realizing your dream.

  • Money?
  • Certain people?
  • Location?
  • Etc…

Notice! Every obstacle I listed here can be overcome. You CAN get more money. People can be released or you CAN stay clear of them. You CAN change your location.

You control your future, your destiny. What you think about comes about. By recording your dreams and goals on paper, you set in motion the process of becoming the person you most want to be. Put your future in good hands – your own.” Mark Victor Hansen

Living Your Dreams Tip #3: Set The Wheels In Motion

Now that you have listed the obstacles, it is time to determine how to overcome each obstacle.

Wise investing… Using your talents and creativity can get you more money. But you also need to use wisdom in reinvesting and saving that money toward your dream.

Those people who are telling you you can’t are the same people you need to either release or set straight. I say this with a careful means as maybe that person is a spouse, child or other family member. Releasing them is probably not an option or even staying clear of them.

So maybe you just need to have a hard talk with that person and explain that you CAN, WILL and they can either support you or stay out of the way. When any negative comes from them, you just go into your own positive zone you have built.

It isn’t easy, but I know you CAN do it.

You can move your location and you can make other moves to overcome the obstacles. With a plan of action, start the wheels spinning toward dream achievement.

First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.” Mahatma Gandhi

Living Your Dreams Tip #4: Buy It, Do It, Live It

Here is where the majority of people fail… They are so close but they just stop.

The wheels have been moving, they have overcome the obstacles but fear will not let them live the dream.

“But I can’t leave now because….”

“What will people think if I buy that?”

On and on, excuses…

It’s your dream, feel it, live it, do it, buy it!

Conclusion

I hope you are inspired reading this, because I am sure motivated after writing it.

If you would like to see and know more about how I have achieved and am living the dream, you may want to read my book. Get it here…

Maybe it can help you on your climb

Knocked Down But Not Knocked Out

5 Tips For Rebounding From Failure

Let me start by saying that if you have not had a failure as an entrepreneur, it either means you haven’t been an entrepreneur very long or you are not stepping outside your comfort zone. It is through failures that we grow and learn.

But I will be the first to admit failing does suck. And while we should embrace failure to learn and grow, there is no written, or unwritten rule that says we have to like failure.

Today, I am giving 5 tips for rebounding from failure.

Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.” Winston Churchill

Rebounding From Failure Tip #1: Don’t Think End; Think Beginning

Wipe out the thought in your mind about this business or idea ending. Set you mind to the fact that you are beginning something new.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.” Henry Ford

Rebounding From Failure Tip #2: Go Ahead And Feel The Emotions

Do you need to cry?

Cry!

How about scream?

Belt it out!

Break something?

A person I once knew would purchase cheap glass ashtrays just to get out the aggression. He would go outside, throw them against a tree breaking them and once his anger subsided, he cleaned up the glass and started fresh.

It is okay to feel emotion. Just be wise where you feel that emotion at. It is usually best when done in solitude. Deal with that emotion and then move forward.

“Failure isn’t fatal, but failure to change might be” John Wooden

Rebounding From Failure Tip #3: Be Accountable

Sure, maybe you contracted an accountant that put a decimal point in the wrong place.

Whose fault was that?

Or you hired a social media manager who pissed off a certain segment by using the wrong language.

Again I ask, whose fault was that?

The content you wrote for the newsletter was flagged as spam.

And the fault lies with?

Many people would answer the accountant, the social media manager and Google. But when we really consider it, the fault lies with you for all.

When we are able to be accountable for the errors we made, we can make the appropriate changes to fix them. If we play the “blame game,” we will never solve the problem.

“Success is measured by how high you bounce when you hit bottom” George Patton

Rebounding From Failure Tip #4: Have A Mental Debriefing

It is a term used often after military exercises, debriefing. The idea is to go through each of the steps to see what was done right, wrong or somewhere in the middle.

There are several questions you should ask yourself…

  • What did I do that worked?
  • And the opposite, what did I do that didn’t work?
  • What could I have done differently?
  • What did I miss or leave out?

This isn’t to “kick yourself,” but it is to learn so you can make the proper adjustments in your next project.

Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war.” Donald Trump

Rebounding From Failure Tip #5: Have Preventive Measures

This goes right along with the last tip; on your next system, set up preventive measures by using the lessons learned from the failure.

Let’s go back to #3… Have audits periodically to check the accountant’s figures. Make sure your social media manager is well trained and have checks on what is posted to ensure he/she is following protocol. And follow all proper procedures in developing content to make sure you are not getting a spam flag.

Remember, a great offense is nothing unless you have a fantastic defense.

Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.” Denis Waitley

Conclusion

There have been people in life who have failed so bad that they lost everything…. Everything!

But they dusted themselves off and earned it all back and more.

There are others who had a small failure and jumped out of 30 story windows. I don’t understand why.

Remember that a failure is just a stepping stone to success… It isn’t a pit to the depths.

I hope this helps you… Tell me in the comments area and if you need a little more, just pick up my book now in audio format, To The Top Here.

3 Lessons For Entrepreneurs From Unlikely Sources

As entrepreneurs, we are, or should be, seeking tips and lessons from other entrepreneurs. Over the years, I have had lessons from sources such as

  • Zig Ziglar
  • Warren Buffett
  • Ray Higdon
  • Tony Robbins
  • Yes you, Todd Falcone
  • and many others…

But what we often don’t consider are the lessons we can learn from unlikely sources. That is the objective of today’s post. I am going to share 3 lessons for entrepreneurs from unlikely sources.

Scroll down, learn and enjoy…

#1 Lessons For Entrepreneurs From Unlikely Sources: Throw Out A Deep And Wide Net

You may think this unlikely source would be fishermen, but I was thinking of a different unlikely source.

Yes, the fishing angle fits, but my thought is law enforcement.

You see, a properly run police system spreads their net wide and deep. They want to know and have contact with as many people in the community as possible. By doing so, they create a system that will help them in situations requiring the public’s assistance.

As entrepreneurs, we need to cast a wide and deep networking net. Your network can refer, assist, partner and possibly even finance your ideas.

Having a wide and deep network is an important aspect of succeeding in business.

#2 Lessons For Entrepreneurs From Unlikely Sources: Hustle

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, Rappers… Hip Hop artists can teach us a lesson that many entrepreneurs need to take serious…

Hustle!

For many Rappers, they keep going and going, hustling and hustling and when failure or success happens, they cry or rejoice for a moment and then “back to the hustle.”

Just consider:

  • Dr. Dre
  • 50 Cent
  • Ice-T
  • Eminem
  • and many more

Many of these Rap artists started with nothing and built empires. All from hustling.

#3 Lessons For Entrepreneurs From Unlikely Sources: Give Them What They Want, Not Necessarily What They Need

Have you ever went through a Burger King drive-thru and ordered a burger with extra cheese, no onion and throw an onion ring on there?

Probably not but…

What would you think if you did and the person came back and said, “I’m sorry, but that extra cheese and onion ring is fattening and I don’t think we should sell you that?”

That won’t happen!

After all, the Burger King slogan is: We give it your way!

And that is the lesson from Burger King for you… Give it their way. Sure, you may think you could help that customer more by doing it your way, but that isn’t what they want. Emotion trumps logic with consumers often, so allow them to buy with their emotions, not your logic.

Conclusion

Look around you… Lessons can come in many ways and forms.

  • Children
  • Movies and television shows
  • Animals
  • Etc…

I have watched entrepreneurs use advertising similar to children with a lemonade stand.

Entrepreneurs have used ideas from Star Wars and other films to lead their tribe.

And businesses have used the persistence found in animals to meet their goals.

So while you need to learn from experienced entrepreneurs, never negate that unlikely sources to learn lessons.
