Brainstorming Tips

Calling your tribe together in a brainstorming session can be a great way to entice creative thoughts and develop team camaraderie. But, if not managed correctly, brainstorming sessions can be a huge waste of time and could actually cause dissension within your tribe.

Now some leaders have the ability to call all tribe members together in a face-to-face brainstorming meeting, and others are spread out so far that using an online software to have that meeting is the best method.

There are various online resources to have meetings with team members. It is great if that system allows screen sharing and recording so team members can review the meeting at a later time.

We have discovered that Zoom fulfills all those needs.

If a brainstorming session is properly managed, you will see amazing benefits.

I am going to share several brainstorming tips to help you in your next session. If you have any questions or added tips, feel free to share them in the comment area below.

Brainstorming Tip #1: Introduce Everyone

While each person may know the others, I still suggest you go through the tribe members introducing each person and a compliment of that person’s primary skill.

I also suggest that you recommend each tribe member takes notes during the session.

Brainstorming Tip #2: Have A Purpose

When you plan a brainstorming session, you need to have a specific purpose for that meeting. Be sure and explain that purpose at the start of the meeting and certain members may need to have that information before the meeting so they can prepare slightly.

I say slightly, because you should only give them short time to prepare. Tell them about the meeting just 24-70 hours before.

Why?

Because the idea is spontaneity.

Just as an example, you want to generate a social media advertising campaign. You will want any members currently managing social media and those who develop ad campaigns to know the info before the meeting. But you should not tell them the primary goal, just that they need to explain social media to the other members.

Remember, keep it spontaneous.

Brainstorming Tip #3: Plan The Action

As the moderator, you need to plan the order of action.

  • The time each person gets to toss an idea
  • The order of each person giving their idea
  • Rebuttal times
  • Etc…

It is up to you to keep control. I even suggest you explain the rules just after the introductions.

Brainstorming Tip #4: Ask For A Certain Number Of Ideas

“Okay team, I want to generate 40 ideas for social media ad campaigns using content, banners or anything else you can dream of. We will go around the room and each person gives an idea until we reach 40. We will take each idea and each person will give their critique of it.”

This system works great because you keep order and you will get ideas that will amaze you.

Brainstorming Tip #5: Make Brainstorming Part Of The Tribe Culture

You can keep these meetings to a minimum by creating an overall culture in the tribe of sharing creative ideas at any time.

Let your people know that they should send any and all ideas via email to all team members at any time. Let them know that all critiques of these ideas should only be sent to you, and you follow up with the member explaining why, or why not their idea may be used. But reward them no matter the outcome.

Brainstorming Tip #6: Have A Time Limit

If you set the meeting for 1 hour, keep it 1 hour!

If the meeting did not get completed, explain to everyone that you will pick up where you left off and set the next meeting day and time.

If you don’t have a set time, some members could get frustrated because they have tasks to complete and did not make room for extra meeting time.

Brainstorming Tip #7: Eliminate Roadblocks

In some circumstances, tribe members may feel there is a roadblock keeping them from sharing an idea. These roadblocks could be:

  • Costs
  • Time
  • Personnel
  • Laws
  • Etc…

Before the meeting, let all tribe members know that roadblocks are all removed. You WANT all ideas without any roadblocks.

Another way brainstorming leaders help this is by not having critique of ideas during the meeting. Critiques of each idea are sent via email to the leader and he/she breaks the ideas down to the most viable.

Conclusion

These are just a few brainstorming tips. As a matter of fact, I may have a brainstorm session and come up with more… I will let you know the outcome.

I want to add one more tip… Ask for crazy ideas. Some of the best creative feats came from an idea that 90% of people thought was crazy.

Did this post help you? If you received some value in it, please share it with team members on social media.

One thing that I can say came from brainstorming is the Home Business Success Kit. My tribe all worked together and determined that we can help home based business owners have success quickly. So I suggest you see how this kit can help you by clicking here.

Entrepreneurship Facts And Fiction – To The Top Tuesday

Just to have a little fun today, I have decided to take all of my readers on a fun fact and fiction finding mission.

Like nearly anything in life, entrepreneurship has had a wide range of stories told that are fiction disguised as facts. And likewise, there are facts that are made to seem like fiction.

So let’s play are you smarter than…. (I will let you answer that).

Fact Or Fiction: Entrepreneurs Must Take High Risks

While entrepreneurship requires risk, saying that all undertakings of entrepreneurs are high risk is fiction.

Wise entrepreneurs measure the risks much like a professional gambler measures the odds.

I would be willing to say that on any given day, a motorist takes more risk jumping on the interstate than an entrepreneur does by starting his/her business as long as they follow a plan.

Fact Or Fiction: Entrepreneurs Are All Young

This seems like a loaded question; age is just a number and I know 80 year old people who act younger than people in their 30’s. I also have met 12 year old’s who were more mature than 25 year old party animals.

While I will not say if this is fact or fiction, I will tell you the statistics; the average age of entrepreneurs starting their first business is 39.

Fact Or Fiction: Entrepreneurs Are All Rich

For each and every person, rich is a different definition.

This is another one that I cannot say for sure if it is fact or fiction, but I can give you some figures.

The average salary of an entrepreneur is $68,000. There are other experts who say entrepreneurs average $100,000 per year.

For some people, that is rich. But in my opinion, that is a high medium.

Fact Or Fiction: Entrepreneurs Do Not Have To Work As Many Hours As They Did In A Regular Job

Well duh!!!

Of course this is a fact! You don’t have to work as many hours, because to have success, you have to work more hours.

There have been numerous 16 hour days, 7 days a week.

I believe it is illegal for employers to require that of employees.

Fact Or Fiction: People Are Becoming Entrepreneurs Because Of Necessity

It does seem like people have chose to start businesses because they cannot find jobs, but that is not the case.

First, why would someone take the risk of entrepreneurship out of necessity?

That really does not make sense.

The answer is fiction because the large percentage of entrepreneurs do so for opportunity and not necessity.

Fact Or Fiction: Entrepreneurs Are Well Educated

While entrepreneurship does not require higher education, the majority of entrepreneurs do have at least a bachelor’s degree.

The wise entrepreneur never stops learning, so education is a lifetime experience.

Fact Or Fiction: The Race With The Highest Rise In Entrepreneurs Since 1997 Is Caucasian

There are a lot of white entrepreneurs but the race with the largest percentage joining in 10 years is Latino.

So the answer to this one is fiction.

Entrepreneur Fact Or Fiction Conclusion

One thing I will tell you as fact… Entrepreneurs have changed and bettered our world and will continue to do so. If not for entrepreneurs, many of the devices that have made your life easier would not be around.

Entrepreneurs solve problems and for that they make money. Some people have the idea that is being greedy, but that is how business works.

One of the primary ways that people have been able to jump into the entrepreneurship world with a low investment is through network marketing. Working with several experts, I developed a system that can make recruiting stress free in your home based business.

I suggest you try Rocket Recruiting… It helps alleviate the hardest objection of all… Money. And having a system that takes resistance out and puts the fun in makes Rocket Recruiting your best choice to grow your network marketing business to the max.

Just click here and give it a go. You will be happy you did.

So was this post a joy to read? I know I had fun writing it. Will you do me a favor? Please share it with your social media friends. They may enjoy it too.

Do Not Make Any Of These 7 Marketing Mistakes

As entrepreneurs, we are taught that mistakes and failures are a part of the learning and growing process.

But I do believe that if you can learn from other people’s mistakes without having to commit them yourself, you are 1 step closer to success.

Besides, some mistakes can damage your business for a long period of time. The majority of mistakes that fall into that category are within the marketing phase.

Some examples that immediately come to mind are:

  • The U.S. and Ghana were against each other in the World Cup. Delta Airlines wanted to recognize each team and posted images of the Statue of Liberty and a giraffe. The problem is: there are no giraffes in Ghana.
  • Or when Pepsi expanded into China they used the slogan: Pepsi Brings You Back To Life. That doesn’t seem bad but when translated it says: Pepsi Brings Your Ancestors Out Of Their Graves.

In today’s post, I am going to share with you 7 marketing mistakes you DO NOT want to make.

Marketing Mistake #1: Targeting Everyone

If you are attempting to market to everyone, you are usually marketing to nobody. The fact is, you have to send a message to a certain target group in your marketing efforts. If you are trying to reach everyone with that message, it will be to generic and dull. No one will remember it.

Marketing Mistake #2: Giving Up On Marketing Campaigns Too Early

All marketing efforts will take some time to see results. Do not get caught in the thought that immediate magic will happen. You need to give it a chance. Yes, there may be costs involved, so make sure you have a budget large enough to rum the campaign at least 3 months.

Marketing Mistake #3: Too Many Marketing Chiefs

Having too many people involved in the marketing decisions can turn your marketing efforts into a chaotic mess. It is best to keep all marketing decisions to just a few key people.

Marketing Mistake #4: Focusing On You Instead Of The Customer

While it may be okay to tell how you or you business won an award, the focus always needs to shift back to the customer and the problems you are solving for them.

Yes you won an award… For solving ? issues and making life better for a certain group of people.

Marketing Mistake #5: Too Much Social Media Presence

Some entrepreneurs assume they should immediately create brand pages at every social media location.

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Linkedin
  • Instagram
  • Google +
  • Etc…

It isn’t bad if you can manage those pages, but the issue usually entails not enough time and help to do so. If you are not regularly posting, followers will lose trust and will assume that if you cannot keep pace with your social media, how will you provide good customer service.

I suggest picking one social site and getting complete control of it before starting another.

Marketing Mistake #6: Not Having A Website

Statistics show that nearly 60% of consumers search online for their needs before they visit any store. That even includes local.

The investment into a website just makes good business sense. I would also add that having a blog and educating consumers on related topics will also help you grow into a trusted brand.

Use content to create a buzz and add a call to action and watch your sales grow.

Marketing Mistake #7: Not Networking

Some of you may ask, “What does networking have to do with marketing?”

More than you realize!

Hub-bubbing with other professionals in similar areas will create a system where they will refer you to their clients and you can refer them to your customers.

It does pay to attend trade shows, seminars and other events and get to know other like-minded entrepreneurs.

Don’t make the mistakes

Marketing is one of your most important areas and if you make a mistake, it CAN cost you dearly. Always step into the eyes and ears of the consumer and use empathy before you run that marketing campaign.

My goal is to help all entrepreneurs find their successful path. I hope this post helps you understand why marketing is so important.

The Pros And Cons Of Becoming A Solopreneur

Some people do not understand the difference between an entrepreneur and a solopreneur.

The entrepreneur sometimes works alone but most generally is surrounded by a tribe. Not necessarily employees, but other experts who may be partners, contractors, friends and followers.

The solopreneur works on a “lone ranger” methodology. In the majority of cases, we call solopreneurs freelancers. But that term freelancer seems unprofessional, so I do recommend that anyone who undertakes that path use the term solopreneur or business owner.

As with any business format, there are pros and cons in becoming a solopreneur. Many people are quick to point out all the great and wonderful benefits of being a solopreneur, but they usually neglect to tell people the cons.

I believe every person should research and understand any business they are considering. So I have decided to take you through the various pros and cons of becoming a solopreneur. By the time you are done reading today’s post, you should be able to make an informed decision if solopreneurship is the right choice for you.

Solopreneur Pro: Flexibility

In the majority of solopreneur business systems, the business owner has the flexibility to work from nearly anywhere and at anytime. Some people call this the laptop lifestyle.

The benefit of flexibility is probably the top reason many people choose to become a solopreneur.

Solopreneur Con: Limited Perspectives

As an entrepreneur, I have a tribe of great men and women who are not afraid to offer their perspective on projects. By having this benefit, I am able to see a “bigger picture,” and it opens my creative processes wider.

Solopreneurs have a limit on perspectives. Sure, the solopreneur may communicate and network with like-minded people, but the open-ended sharing of perspectives is not as prevalent.

Solopreneur Pro: Freedom Of Choice

When you work for an employer, you really have no choice of who is working with or near you. As a solopreneur, you have the ability to pick and choose clients and the types of jobs you will take.

Solopreneur Con: Chaotic Work/Life Balance

This seems to be a common denominator for solopreneurs. When to stop working and have some fun.

Many solopreneurs have clients who are living in other time zones and this can create havoc in a person’s structure at home.

There is no “simple” answer. It comes down to time management and being able to say no.

Solopreneur Pro: Only 1 Limit – You!

As a solopreneur you have no limits except your own mind and your fears. You do not have another person saying something has to be done their way or “by the book.” You have the right to throw “the book” away. You have the right to go against the grain.

Some of the most successful solopreneurs ever did things in ways no one ever would have imagined or tried.

Solopreneur Con: It Can Be Lonely

Extroverted people can really have a difficult time with this solopreneur con. It can be lonely and you have to find ways to battle this con. You may want to work in public places, attend seminars and other networking events and just get out and socialize.

Solopreneur Pro: More Income

Statistics show that solopreneurs make substantially more money than employees who are doing similar tasks. The average shows that the solopreneur makes 45% more than an employee counterpart.

Solopreneur Con: The Competition Can Be Heavy

The economy has led more and more people to enter the solopreneur world. This means that you will have more competition. Those competitors may have more education and experience.

You MUST differentiate yourself. The key is in marketing your skills and talents.

Should You Become A Solopreneur?

If you feel the calling, I say go for it!

Success is right at your fingertips if you have the passion and desire. But it is important that you know it isn’t as easy as some may lead you to believe. If you understand that before starting, when difficult moments arise, you will be prepared.

Overcome The Fear Of Rejection: 6 Tips

The fear of rejection is a natural part of being human. After all since the days of old, humans have had a need to be accepted by other groups of humans.

So is the fear of rejection bad?

Not necessarily. It is how you handle that fear that determines if it is bad or good… positive or negative.

If you allow the fear of rejection to control your actions, I would say it becomes negative. But if you use the fear of rejection to push you to work harder, it can become a positive motivator.

You will never erase fear of rejection. So use it to help you grow.

Every entrepreneur I know has some degree of fear inside them. However, they’ve learned to operate in what I would call the “fringe of fear.”

I once heard someone say: “fear is okay, just don’t let it interfere with your performance.”

Think of it this way…. fear is built into our psychology. It’s what protected us when we were still living in caves and chasing food across the plains.

That same fear also results in the societal structures in every major country on earth.

Think about it, why do people continue to work a job and not simply quit and attack their dreams head on? Fear. Aka, fear of failure.

Why are some people hesitant to approach strangers about their business opportunity? Fear. More specifically, fear of what someone might think of them.

Only through facing fear and overcoming that fear can we truly find victory in life and in business.

Every great entrepreneur I’ve ever met has done this, no exception.

So ultimately, we essentially have 2 choices:

  1. Give in to fear and quit.

OR

  1. Overcome the fear of rejection and follow through with our plan.

That’s right… Just 2 choices and you have to make one.

The entrepreneurs I know always choose #2.

And remember, you have greatness in your makeup or you wouldn’t be here. You have the power to overcome the fear you’re facing today, trust me.

AND

I want to help you, so here are 6 tips to help you overcome the fear of rejection and to move forward in your business.

Overcome The Fear Of Rejection Tip #1: Don’t Fear Rejection, Fear The Fear Itself

The quote, “There is nothing to fear but fear itself” holds infinite truth.

When we fear being rejected, we actually cause that rejection.

The signals we send off in the way we act can elicit a response from people before we even open our mouths.

In fact, did you know there’s an invisible aura you constantly project. It basically extends 8 feet out from the center of where you stand at any given time.

And the way you look, sound, move, and carry yourself all play into how a person responds to you before you even open your mouth and speak to them!

Fix the pregame part of your approach (how you look, act, and feel), and you will solicit a response from people the likes of which you’ve never seen.

You will literally become a prospect MAGNET

Overcome The Fear Of Rejection Tip #2: What Will NO Do To You?

A person says NO.

  • Will you die from it?
  • Is that word going to send you to the hospital?
  • Will it lock you in a prison?

Why fear a simple word? So they rejected the offer.

Don’t take it personal. I wasn’t meant to be.

They’re simply rejecting it because of their own FEAR or DOUBT.

They either fear the same things you do, OR they doubt in their own ability to get the job done.

I once heard a #1 earner in a network marketing company say to me privately: “you know Eric, in some cultures they simply don’t think like most people.” In fact, I was in a line once at a convention and in front of me stood a 6 figure weekly earner so I asked him what they were doing and he said “Eric….it’s really simple. We look at company, company good. We look at product, product good. We tell everyone we know to come look too, they all sign up and we all get rich.”

Wouldn’t it be awesome if everyone thought that way!

Well, sometimes we don’t have that luxury, but it doesn’t mean the show’s over.

Jim Rohn once said: “I can summarize the last 6,000 years of civilization for you…varying degrees of opportunity, mixed with varying degrees of difficulty. The end.”

How true!

And unless you live in a dictatorship, you have those conditions!

Go for the NO and you’ll get your victory. Nothing will stop you.

Overcome The Fear Of Rejection Tip #3: Face It And Act

The only way to overcome any fear is to face the fear head on.

So embrace that fear and act. Do what you fear and those fears will diminish.

Overcome The Fear Of Rejection Tip #4: Determine What You Want

I have realized that wants and needs often overcome fear. If a person wants something bad enough, they will walk through any fear or doubt to get it.

So you need to ask yourself 4 questions:

  1. What is it you want?
  2. Why do you want it?
  3. What are the benefits you will receive when you get what you want?
  4. What will you lose if you don’t act?

Overcome The Fear Of Rejection Tip #5: Analyze

You should never “wallow” in past rejections, you should analyze them. Try to discover the primary reason you received the rejection and make adjustments to minimize further rejections.

By being analytical about your performance you can improve.

Remember, what gets measured can be improved.

Don’t be afraid to ask someone close for their opinion on your performance either. Feedback is a gift, and one that pays dividends over and over again.

Overcome The Fear Of Rejection Tip #6: Change Your Mindset

If you are passionate about the product or service you are offering, you will subconsciously pass that on to EVERY PERSON you interact with.

Just consider this:

  • Book publishers turned down J.K. Rowling multiple times.
  • Tyler Perry was living on the street before his first script was picked up.
  • Steve Jobs lost his entire company before getting it back.
  • Donald Trump went bankrupt multiple times before having his breakthrough.
  • Ray Croc was flat broke and almost lost everything he had when launching McDonalds and acquiring it from the original founders

One key ingredient these amazing people had though, was their mindset and belief in themselves.

Cool stuff right?

Remember, knowledge is nothing without application, so take these 6 tips and put them to use immediately!

And if you want a little help in implementing these newly found skillsets, be sure to check out Rocket Recruiting. It takes a lot of the rejection out of the equation for you….okay I know I know, you’re thinking ‘didn’t you just say rejection is necessary?’

We would be crazy to tell you ALL REJECTION in every facet of your business will disappear. That’s nuts since network marketing is a people business.

However, our tool will ELIMINATE A LOT OF IT, especially what comes on the front end when you’re trying to open people up to just TAKE A LOOK. We call it REJECTION-FREE RECRUITING for this reason.

Let’s be honest, the toughest part for most people is just communicating the icebreaker to get people to check out their company video or whatever.

You still have to follow up with people, but how hard is that?

Ask where they are on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being ready to start. If they say 1, you’re onto the next.

Cool right?!?

Rocket Recruiting Rocks!
