6 Tips To Live A Balanced Life

balanced life

It doesn’t matter if you are 7 or 70 or anywhere in between, living a balanced life is the key to satisfaction and peace.

Will you have stress?

Probably, but you will manage that stress better.

Balance is not easy, especially for entrepreneurs.

Over the years, I have learned a great deal on how to balance my work, family and play. I won’t admit perfection, but I do feel that sense of satisfaction, so the balance is good.

So follow along with today’s post and use these 6 tips to live a balanced life.

Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” Albert Einstein

Balanced Life Tip #1: Take Care Of You

This is important for every one of us, but I especially direct this to those women out there who are managing to care for children, do the laundry, feed the family and manage their business.

It is so easy to get caught up in taking care of everyone else that we neglect ourselves.

The fact is, if you do not take care of #1, you won’t be able to take care of other people.

So make sure you are eating healthy, sleeping properly and taking time for yourself.

Put YOU time in your planner and make it happen.

Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance and order and rhythm and harmony.” Thomas Merton

Balanced Life Tip #2: Set Goals In Every Area

Most of the readers here should now know that setting goals for your business is important. But it is equally important to set goals in all other areas of your life to balance it out.

Set goals in:

  • Your relationships
  • The finances
  • Your physical well-being
  • Education
  • and of course, your spiritual well-being

Many experts will say the same thing I am telling you above, but they neglect to give you the key in the goal setting “road map;” you MUST set objectives to reach those goals.

Objectives are the simple steps you will take to reach those goals… An example may be: I am setting a goal to be able to run 2 miles in __ minutes.

Your objectives may be:

  1. I will start by running ¼ mile for 4 days this week, getting faster times each day.
  2. I will add 1/8 mile for 2 days and the next 2 days another 1/8 mile… with faster times each day.
  3. I will run 1 mile for 4 days beating each days time.
  4. I will run 1 mile and walk ¼ mile and jog ¼ mile for 2 days.
  5. I will walk ½ mile, run ½ mile, jog ½ mile and walk ½ mile for 2 days
  6. I will run 1 ¾ miles and walk ¼ mile for 2 days

I am ready!

I will run 2 miles in __ minutes! Nothing will stop me!

There is a fine balance between honoring the past and losing yourself in it. For example, you can acknowledge and learn from mistakes you made, and then move on and refocus on the now. It is called forgiving yourself.” Eckhart Tolle

Balanced Life Tip #3: Reflect

reflect

Each evening before bed, I find it helps my balance to reflect back on the day:

  • What were my accomplishments that day?
  • Where did I fall short and what could I change?
  • What is my plan tomorrow?

Just taking that short time to reflect helps me keep on that balance beam without falling.

We come into this world head first and go out feet first; in between, it is all a matter of balance.” Paul Boese

Balanced Life Tip #4: Be Grateful

Every single human being has something to be grateful for. No matter what is going on around you, to keep a balance in life and have inner peace, you need to find each and everything you are grateful for.

Write them down and when a day isn’t going as well as planned, just take a moment and examine your gratefulness list.

It works!

Balanced Life Tip #5: Keep A P.M.A.

P.M.A. stands for positive mental attitude.

No matter what occurs, stay positive. Life can throw unexpected stuff at us, but life cannot control how you react to that stuff. If you always maintain a positive outlook, your balance will be good.

Balanced Life Tip #6: Take Measured Risks

While this may seem like an oxymoron, we must always remember that anything we do carries some risk.

  • We we exercise, we risk a sprained ankle or a pulled muscle.
  • If we drive a car, we risk getting in an accident.
  • Etc…

To live a perfectly balanced life, we must learn to take measured risks. We study the odds and do everything in our power to succeed.

Yes, we may fail but that should not stop us. We learn and take another measured risk.

We fail up!

The key to keeping your balance is knowing when you’ve lost it. Anonymous

Conclusion

If you have ever watched one of those tightrope walkers cross Niagara Falls, you have surely seen that they have to make adjustments along the way to keep balanced. It could be the wind, the pole or any other variables.

To live a balanced life, you will have to make adjustments from time to time too. This is why you need to slow down and examine the whole picture instead of just looking at the rope you are walking.

If you feel out of balance and you are not sure where the problem lies, feel free to comment here and I will offer suggestions to help you find your balance.

5 Ways To Boost Your Confidence

boost your confidence

While many say content is King, I would have to say that as an entrepreneur, confidence is Czar.

When we show confidence, we are attractive. Confidence tells others that we have something they want. They will be drawn to us to try to attain a piece of the “confidence” pie.

Sometimes confidence is not an easy thing to have, especially if and when everything seems to be going wrong. During those times, confidence can actually help everything “turn around,” and start going right.

So in today’s post, I am going to give you 5 ways to boost your confidence.

You are the only person on earth who can use your ability.” Zig Ziglar

#1 Way To Boost Your Confidence: Grooming & Dress

While I am sure the majority of readers here do keep themselves well-groomed, I think it still needs to be mentioned. Those little things like showering, shaving, brushing teeth and wearing deodorant can make a huge difference in your personal confidence.

And wear clothing that is sharp!

Make-up is the last thing to enhance your beauty, but it’s very important because it builds up your self-confidence and gives you more courage.” Evelyn Lauder

#2 Way To Boost Your Confidence: Take Negative Influences Out Of Your Life

One of the biggest confidence “killers” are the negative influences around us. Maybe it is time to take some of those influences out of your life.

I know there are just some negative people you cannot erase, but making a decision to stay clear of them can do your confidence great good.

“If you have no confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life. With confidence, you have won even before you have started.” Cicero

#3 Way To Boost Your Confidence: Do It Straight

high self esteem

Consider how you walk, is it straight? Do you hold your head up and walk with firmness?

And how do you sit? Do you slump or do you sit straight?

Straight = confidence, so walk and sit straight.

We have to learn to be our own best friends because we fall too easily into the trap of being our own worst enemies.” Roderick Thorp

#4 Way To Boost Your Confidence: Ask For Help

If you are trying to complete a task or project that is giving you a hard time, don’t allow it to defeat you and knock your confidence down. Just ask for help. There are people willing to help so don’t allow your ego to destroy your confidence.

I’ve studied the lives of the 20th century’s great businessmen and concluded self-confidence was instrumental in all their success.” Alex Spanos

#5 Way To Boost Your Confidence: Just Fake It

There are those moments when our confidence level is at a low point, but we don’t want others to see that. It is time to act!

I mean act!

Like…

  • DeNiro
  • Redford
  • Streep

Just put on some Bette Davis’ eyes and act.

Just pretend you have more confidence than all and the self confidence will grow inside you.

“People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within.” Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

Conclusion

To do what you do, self confidence is mandatory. Build it, practice it… Live it.

How To Be Stress Free In Building Your Business

stress free

We often see it… Entrepreneurs with wrinkles all over their face. They are filled with stress. Stress that pours out when they approach people.

No matter how they try to hide that stress behind a smile or humor, the stress just pours out of their pores.

And the prospects they approached are like magnets. They pull that stress in and begin to feel uncomfortable and apprehensive. After all, if the person approaching them is full of stress and anxiety, they assume they will feel the same.

Being stress free in your business tasks is important to begin to build a large and profitable business.

Here are some tips to be stress free with your business.

Stress Free Tip #1: Understand That You Cannot Motivate People

Motivation comes from within a person. There is nothing we can do to motivate another person. But we do have the power to inspire others. Inspiration comes from watching us follow the principles we have trained our team to follow. Inspiration comes from watching us approach people with confidence.

If we are trying to motivate by telling… By bossing… We are bound to be stressed out because they will not follow what we say, our tribe will follow what we do.

Stress Free Tip #2: Listen More And Talk Less

listen more

Too many entrepreneurs turn every conversation into a one person talk fest. They pitch, pitch and pitch some more.

It is stressful for the person having to hear them. So what do they do with that stress? They give it back to the entrepreneur by saying no.

If only the business owner would have allowed it to be a two way conversation… If he/she would have just listened more, the person would have greater respect and most likely, they would have told the entrepreneur why they needed the opportunity.

Just listen and they will usually tell you the answer to closing them.

Stress Free Tip #3: Spend Your Time With Positive People

If you choose to hang with the people who are normally positive and upbeat, you will stay positive. And, when you are positive, it is difficult to be stressed out.

I know that it is nearly impossible to always be around positive people, but if you consciously plan to spend the majority of time around those type of people, you will see great things happen in your life.

Stress Free Tip #4: Use 3rd Party Tools

Believe me, 3rd party tools can take the majority of stress away from you.

That is why I developed the Expense Tracker.

One of the primary causes of stress with entrepreneurs is money. And what better way to keep track of money in and money out… This app will help you manage your budget and relieve your stress.

Click here to get the Expense Tracker.

Conclusion

Let’s be completely honest, stress will get you nowhere except in a hospital bed or even worse…

Take the stress off by following these tips.

6 Tips For Building Trust With Strangers

build trust

A common issue we find in the world of entrepreneurship is trust. How to build trust with strangers.

In these days and times, there are so many scams that people tend to distrust everyone they meet.

So in today’s post, I am going to give 6 tips for building trust with strangers. By using these tips, you will be able to have a conversation without the other person being on the defensive.

Building Trust With Strangers Tip #1: Be Completely Transparent And Honest

If you give the slightest hint that you are hiding something, strangers will not trust you. If they ask how much you make and you are new to the industry, why not just be honest? “I haven’t made anything yet because I just started. But I also asked the same question from the person who sponsored me, and he is making on average $2,000 per month working the business part time.”

Your transparency and honesty will carry you much farther than any lies would.

Building Trust With Strangers Tip #2: Find Common Threads

It is always easier to have a conversation with another person if we have something in common. It is up to you to find that common thread. You do so by asking simple questions.

  • What kind of work do you do?
  • Where did you go to school? Were raised?
  • Do you have children… Pets?
  • Etc…

Once you have found a common thread, it can be the foundation of your conversation and will lead to a trust like no other.

Building Trust With Strangers Tip #3: Let Your Dress Reflect You

We often preach: Dress For Success. And I do stand by that message. But I will also say that the person who feels uncomfortable wearing a shirt and tie, or a dress for a female, probably should not wear it.

Why?

Because you will reflect your discomfort. Maybe you are a jeans and t-shirt person. That’s cool!

All I’ll say is, wear nice jeans and a clean shirt. Look at yourself in the mirror and put yourself in a stranger’s position. Would you talk to you?

Remember, people do judge by first appearances.

Building Trust With Strangers Tip #4: Smile And Be Polite

It is amazing what a smile can do for people. And the little things like opening a door or allowing someone to go first will create an aura of trustworthiness around you.

So, no matter how rough the day is going, smile… Be polite, and you will attract strangers to you. Many of which, will initiate the conversation. Because you gained their trust with your smile and old-fashioned politeness.

Building Trust With Strangers Tip #5: Show That You Do Have Weaknesses

It may seem slightly manipulative, but when you show you have a weakness, strangers are more apt to have an immediate trust for you. After all, most people will never admit weakness.

You could do little things like spill some coffee, drop your paper or pen or trip slightly. Or you could tell them you don’t hear very well or you are colorblind.

There have been many studies on this and people tend to trust when the other person freely admits a weakness.

Building Trust With Strangers Tip #6: Listen

If I were leading a team of sales people, this would be the very first thing I would teach them.

We have a misconception that sales people are fast talkers and will “blab” their way to a sale. And while that can happen in some cases, I believe that the majority “blab” their way out of a sale.

You see, people tend to want to do the talking. They want someone to listen.

Think about it… We were given 2 ears and 1 mouth. I suggest using those tools in their proportion; listen twice as much as you talk.

Many people will talk their way into buying or joining if we just allow them to do so.

Conclusion

If you follow these tips, you will notice a huge difference in how strangers come across to you. You will gain their trust which can lead to a recruitment or sale.

Who Is Your Biggest Enemy?

7 Ways You May Be Sabotaging Your Success

We often hear the words, “Think it, imagine it and you will have it.” But many people follow this system and suddenly scream “It isn’t working!”

They know it has worked for others and they are putting in the work, setting goals and it seems that what they imagine has fallen into a black pit.

Why?

I would be apt to say that their biggest enemy is sabotaging them. And that enemy looks at them daily in the mirror.

Let me ask, does this resonate with you?

Maybe, your biggest enemy is sabotaging your success. Yes… Here are 7 ways you may be sabotaging your success. It is time to put your enemy in its place and get back on the success path.

Who Is Your Biggest Enemy #1: Rewarding Yourself With The Problem

A good example here is, you just saved money, so you run out and spend it on something not needed.

Maybe you had set a goal to save money and foolishly spending that savings as a reward for meeting your goal is absurd.

Find ways to reward yourself that do not defeat the purpose.

Who Is Your Biggest Enemy #2: Fear

Fear can be a destroyer. If you are allowing fear to control your every move, every decision, you are sabotaging your success.

The only way you can find success is to do things you fear. I am not saying you put yourself in the path of harm, but don’t allow fear to be your decision maker. Could it fail? Sure… But it could also succeed. You will not know either way unless you bypass fear and just go for it.

Who Is Your Biggest Enemy #3: Procrastinating

Putting off a task you know you should do today is self-sabotage at its best. In any business, there are things that need to be done, but no one like doing them.

But they must be done! Pushing them off will not make it any easier. What usually happens a pile of things no one wanted to do suddenly are needing to be done at the last minute and you will be overly stressed.

Who Is Your Biggest Enemy #4: Not Taking Time To Learn New Skills

As humans, we should always be in a “learning” mode.

  • Read books
  • Join webinars
  • attend seminars and training events
  • Take courses
  • etc…

Who Is Your Biggest Enemy #5: Errors Crush You

You will make mistakes. We all do! But what happens after you make an error? Do you sulk for days and take it out on those around you?

That is sabotage!

You simply “own” the mistake and move forward. I am not telling you to forget it, because it is a learning tool so you do not make a similar mistake in the future.

Forgive yourself and do what you need to do to “right” the mistake and keep your business on pace.

Who Is Your Biggest Enemy #6: Comparing Yourself

Just because your competitor is having success in a certain area and you are not is no reason to compare yourself to him/her. Odds are, you are succeeding in an area they are not and you will not recognize that by playing the “compare” game.

It is okay to learn from your competitor’s actions as long as you don’t try to compare your system to his/hers.

If I compared myself to many other entrepreneurs, I would see all the negatives and few positives. The same is true for you.

Who Is Your Biggest Enemy #7: Perfectionism

If you are waiting til everything is perfect, you may as well get a pillow and blanket because you will be waiting a very long time. It will never be perfect.

My suggestion is… Start and make changes as you go to make it better. Listen to your customers and they will tell you how to make it better.

Conclusion

I have a challenge for you… Go to the mirror right now. Look at it and say, “I don’t want to be enemies anymore. I want to be your friend… Your best friend.

Now treat yourself as a friend would treat a friend.

It works, so try it. And while you are at it, click here to get a free training course: 7 Days To Unstoppable Motivation

Have a great day and we will see you on the climb

6 Problem Solving Tips

problem solvingAs an entrepreneur, I was recently thinking about the primary function of entrepreneurs.

What do you think that function is?

I would have to say that the main function is solving problems. After all, our job is to determine what problems potential customers have and setting out to solve that problem using our experience and creativity.

In today’s post, I am going to share 6 problem solving tips that I know can help you fulfill your primary function.

Problem Solving Tip #1: Ensure You Are Attacking The True Problem.

I am going to use an example for this tip… Let’s say your wife tells you that the laundry room is soaked with water.

Is that the true problem?

You can mop and mop, but the water keeps piling up. The true problem seems to be a leak somewhere. Mopping is not solving the problem, you must fix the actual leak to solve the true problem.

When you are examining a problem, make sure the problem is not just an effect of a larger problem… The true problem. That is the problem you want to solve.

Problem Solving Tip #2: Seek Support

Sometimes in the problem solving experience, we can get into “tunnel vision.” Our emotions may override logic and we cannot see the road from the trees. In these times, it is wise to seek support.

Using the example in #1, maybe you have a friend who is a plumber. Call the plumber and ask his/her thoughts… Get support and help from someone who has faced the problem before.

Problem Solving Tip #3: Follow The 4 Step Process

Problem solving is a 4 step process. I have already alluded to some of these steps, but you need to know that every problem solving situation must use this 4 step process. It is:

  1. Define the problem and its cause.
  2. Brainstorm all possible options.
  3. Evaluate your options and choose the best.
  4. Put your chosen option to work… Implement it!

Problem Solving Tip #4: Don’t Give The Problem Time To Expand In Complexity

If we procratinate on solving, problems have a tendency to get more complex. One problem can create other problems and our work is doubled or even tripled.

My suggestion is to immediately start working on solving the problem. Do not let minutes slip by or that problem can become a nightmare.

Force your mind to work on solving and leave other things at the side.

Problem Solving Tip #5: Don’t blow The Problem Out Of Proportion

This tip is a good one for every person; not just entrepreneurs. As humans, we have a tendency to make problems worse than they really are. This can greatly effect our problem solving skills.

The best thing you can do is ask yourself, “what is the worst thing that can happen if this problem goes unsolved?” By doing so, you will understand the gravity of the situation and it will help you use logic in your methods of solving it.

Problem Solving Tip #6: Answer Your Why

This is the important question you must answer… Why do you want or need to solve this problem? What will you gain from it? How can solving the problem fit within your business structure?

Your why is of great importance. Without a why, your passion for solving the problem will be non-existent.

Conclusion

So, let’s hear from you… What problems are you in the process of solving? How are you approaching the situation? Is there any added tips you would share?

You can post all comments and questions below. And be sure to get my book To The Top to see how I solved some problems that confronted me.

I hope this helps as we bring your business…
