Awaken Your Entrepreneurial Creativity – 5 Tips

awaken

It happens to writers, artists, musicians and it also happens to entrepreneurs. That spirit of creativity sometimes falls asleep. Things go blank and in many cases, the individual feels a fear like no other.

As entrepreneurs, creativity is our “bread and butter.” There is no time for it to sleep. And, I can testify that coffee, Coca Cola and energy drinks are not the answer to awaken your entrepreneurial creativity.

In today’s post, I am going to share 5 tips that can awaken and enliven your creativity; and not just for entrepreneurs, but for any person who must rely on creativity to survive and prosper.

Awaken Your Entrepreneurial Creativity Tip #1: Go Where No Man Has Gone Before

For some odd reason, Captain Kirk and Spock are running around my brain today, so I just had to use the Star Trek tagline.

What I mean here is get out and explore what is around you. Just take a drive around the countryside or walk the urban streets and explore.

Explore some oddball websites or read books you never considered reading.

You see, exploration is like pouring cold water on the sleeping face of creativity. It WILL awaken and be prepared for creativity to just go into an amazing state.

Awaken Your Entrepreneurial Creativity Tip #2: Creativity Often Is Awake When You Sleep

You may wonder why you are not sleeping good. Before I give you some answers, improper sleep can damage your creative spirit.

The common things are:

  • A bad mattress and pillow
  • Too much noise
  • And too much caffeine late in the day

But what many people don’t think about is technology.

That smartphone, tablet or laptop may be the most damaging item to your sleep.

DO NOT keep those items near you when sleeping! Oh well, you don’t see that notification or get that call about something stupid at 2:30 AM.

That light that emits from these devices is actually sleep inhibition. Once you open it, getting back to a “good” sleep is more difficult.

So close the technology at night and awaken the creativity within.

Awaken Your Entrepreneurial Creativity Tip #3: A Tribal Brainstorming Session

brainstorm session

Get that tribe together!

Time to have a tribal brainstorm. You may just pick a word or phrase and have each member speak for 2 minutes or less on that subject.

I suggest you have a notepad because as this happens, creativity will awaken from that deep slumber and your brain will probably spin faster than you can write.

Maybe recording the meeting will help too.

Awaken Your Entrepreneurial Creativity Tip #4: Delegate The Mundane Tasks

I often find entrepreneurs “losing” their creative spirit because they have put on all the hats of the business.

When you are running to and fro doing all the mundane and menial tasks to keep the business running, you are not allowing your brain to “slip” into that creative atmosphere.

Delegate… Outsource… Just make it happen so you have time to be the creative individual you were designed to be.

Awaken Your Entrepreneurial Creativity Tip #5: Erase Negatives Or At Least Ignore Them

Creativity needs positivity to be able to function. If you are surrounded by negatives with people, situations or even the colors of your environment, you either need to erase it, change it or find a way to ignore it.

I mention the word ignore because I have been asked if a person should “blacklist” a family member because of their consistent negative attitude.

Let me just state that without negative, we would not have positive. It is negative that actually creates the problems that our positive creativity can solve.

What I am saying is, negative is here to stay, but to be a successful and creative entrepreneur, wiping as many of the negatives away you possibly can will be beneficial.

Conclusion

6 Tips On Carrying An Entrepreneur Mindset Instead Of An Employee Mindset

entrepreneur mindset

It is common…

Struggling entrepreneurs wonder why they are having difficulties. They compare themselves to another entrepreneur who is in a similar situation and is having massive success and they wonder “Why not me?”

The first thing I will always tell you is to stop comparing. There are just too many variables that makes a comparison like that skewed.

The next item is, you just may be trying to create and manage a business with an employee mindset.

In today’s post, I am going to give you 6 tips on carrying an entrepreneur mindset and “dropping” that employee mindset you have developed over the years.

Carrying An Entrepreneur Mindset Tip #1: Reflect On Your Vision Often

I have preached it often… Every entrepreneur MUST have a vision.

  • What problems do you want to solve?
  • Where do you picture your business in 1 year? 5 years? 10 years?
  • Who do you want to help?
  • Etc…

You should have already documented your vision, but is it ingrained into your mind?

Here’s a suggestion… Visit a local printer and put you vision on a poster or 11 X 7 laminated paper. Frame it and hang it on the wall or on your desk where you cannot help but to reflect on it often.

That vision is the foundation your entrepreneur mindset requires.

Carrying An Entrepreneur Mindset Tip #2: Master The Art Of Time Management

time management

The employee mindset seldom worries about time management because there is a boss managing it for them, and a boss managing that boss.

As an entrepreneur, you are the boss of bosses and you must manage your time.

A day planner is a great thing… Buy one and use it.

Each evening, plan your next day. Plan your weeks, months, etc…

Learn to take out those time wasters and be the boss of your time… Master it!

Carrying An Entrepreneur Mindset Tip #3: Set Milestones

The track to success as an entrepreneur is not a sprint, it is a long marathon.

You can set a pace by setting milestones to reach and when you do reach that milestone, celebrate it.

After that celebration, get to work on reaching the next milestone.

Carrying An Entrepreneur Mindset Tip #4: Customer Before Product

So many have this backwards… They develop a product or service and then try to find the customers. While it has worked for some entrepreneurs, the ideal method is to approach the potential customers and to learn what problems they need solved… What products or services they need or want.

The best entrepreneur mindset has an understanding of the customer mindset.

Carrying An Entrepreneur Mindset Tip #5: Delegate

As an employee, you probably would never consider delegating some of your workload to a fellow employee, but as an entrepreneur, to have success, you MUST delegate.

There is no way you can cover all the bases, so find people who are able to competently complete the required tasks.

Carrying An Entrepreneur Mindset Tip #6: Positism

positism

I know, that word is not in a dictionary, but it should be!

The employee mindset usually says things like

  • I don’t think I can
  • I’m frustrated
  • or, I don’t want to

It is negatism.

The entrepreneurial positism mindset says things like

  • I can and will
  • I got this
  • We are going to win!

Conclusion

If you can rid yourself of the employee mindset and keep an entrepreneur mindset, you have success standing directly in front. Reach out and take it.

9 Tips On Getting Business Insurance That Is Right For You

shake

Shopping for insurance can be like trying to buy a new dress for your wife…

  • The right color.
  • Will it fit?
  • Is it unique?
  • Etc…

Sometimes it can be easier just to wrap a gift card and let her find the dress herself.

But you don’t have that option with business insurance. It is imperative that you find the right business insurance that will fit your needs. So, I am going to give you 9 tips.

Getting Business Insurance Tip #1: Have The Information You Will Need To Apply

Applying for business insurance can turn into a long, tedious and frustrating process if you do not have the proper information ready. I suggest you have:

  • The basics – These will include locations (addresses), contact info, name, legal entity and the industry.
  • What coverage you think you need – An attorney can help you determine this and the insurance broker may also add recommendations.
  • The revenues your business gets.
  • History
  • Employees
  • Business practices
  • Websites and social media
  • Any past insurance coverage

Getting Business Insurance Tip #2: Make A List Of Risks

The whole idea of having insurance is to cover various risks you have with your business. I suggest taking some time and listing out all the risks you can think of:

  • General liability
  • Fire
  • Weather
  • Commercial vehicle
  • Travel
  • Data
  • Equipment
  • Etc…

An independent insurance agent can also help with this.

Getting Business Insurance Tip #3: Do Your Research And Shop Around

It is never wise to just go with the first quote. You may be able to land a better deal.

  • Price
  • Package
  • Company reputation
  • Etc…

Getting Business Insurance Tip #4: Do An Annual Insurance Audit

In 1 year’s time, business can change. It is always smart to do a yearly audit of your current business insurance coverage. You may need to add or even subtract. You may want to shop around to see if you can get a better deal.

You should plan a yearly business insurance audit religiously.

Getting Business Insurance Tip #5: Join Industry Organizations

Many industry organizations are affiliated with insurance companies and can get you cost efficient liability business insurance or other coverage. It is like a group coverage for business and can save you a lot of money.

Getting Business Insurance Tip #6: Don’t Leave Out Business Interruption

So many entrepreneurs get loaded with coverage but neglect business interruption coverage. If a fire or tornado destroys part of your business and you cannot sell, you are out revenues until you have rebuilt.

With business interruption insurance, you are covered until you are up and running again.

Getting Business Insurance Tip #7: Yes, Even A Home Business Needs Insurance

Let’s say you have a network marketing business or you make crafts and sell them on an online store.

Your homeowner policy will not normally cover stock or business equipment. It is wise to talk with your insurance agent to get a business insurance policy that will cover any loss to your home business profits or materials.

Getting Business Insurance Tip #8: Security Gets Discounts

home security

By having layers of security, insurance companies will give discounts.

  • Deadbolts
  • Security cameras
  • Alarms
  • Etc…

Getting Business Insurance Tip #9: Understand The Deductibles

I have watched businesses sink because the deductible was too high on damages for the entrepreneur. Sure, maybe you have a million dollar policy on an accidental death, but it happens and you didn’t realize the deductible was $300,000 that you must pay before the insurance pays.

Always know the deductibles before choosing a policy.

Conclusion

No matter what, do not put off getting business insurance… Remember that Murphy’s Law is always in affect.

One last tidbit, your business insurance is a deduction on your taxes.

To keep track of tax deductions and your business budget, we developed the Expense Tracker to save time and money. You can try the Expense Tracker here.

3 Tips For Getting The Best ROI On Your Digital Advertising

return on investment

When you advertise your products or services, are you getting the best ROI possible?

For those of you that are “new to the digital advertising world,” ROI stands for Return On Investment.

These are stats you want to measure as you are running ad campaigns.

  • Click thru rates
  • Bounce rates
  • Conversion rates
  • Etc…

With most digital advertising strategies, you can measure these figures and determine if you are profiting more than you are paying.

Now before I get started providing tips on getting the best ROI, I do need to tell you that you should not expect miraculous results if you only run ad campaigns for a few days. Most ad campaigns need to run a decent length of time to have an accurate reading of their effectiveness.

With that said, try these 3 tips to get the best ROI on your digital advertising.

Getting The Best ROI Tip #1: Target The Right And Tight Audience

This has to be the top tip of them all because so many entrepreneurs just throw ads out with no target in mind.

Let me tell you that when you think everyone is the target, you will probably attract no one.

A great example I have seen recently comes from massive billboards for a well known fast food franchise that is recognized worldwide. This is a company that probably could target every man, woman and child and get away with it. But they narrow that target down massively on the billboard.

You see what seems to be a younger African American woman with a small child holding the “special meal” this company makes for children. The child is holding the box in one hand and the toy that comes with it in the other.

I would wager a lot that this ad has a better ROI than an ad the same company would run that tries to target a wide range of people.

Naturally, they did a study on the demographics of that area and the people who would relate and connect with that ad.

So, let’s say you sell a high powered vacuum cleaner… Would you target

  • 20-30 year old men who are single?
  • 50+ year old widows who are considering a retirement village?
  • Or 25-40 year old women who are married and have children?

It really is a simple answer isn’t it?

Getting The Best ROI Tip #2: Have One Strong And Clear Call To Action

The call to action in your digital ad needs to:

  • Be Strong – It should tell the person what to do. No, don’t ask… TELL! This may seem too strong for you but, every person has been programmed to do what they are told since they were babies. Consumers will do what you tell them to do. If you ask, they will find someone else who tells them.
  • Be Clear – The prospect wants to understand what is on the other side of that click. Make sure they feel they can trust what you tell them is what they find.
  • Only One – If you have more than one call to action in an ad, you will confuse the prospect and they will decide not to decide.

Getting The Best ROI Tip #3: Keep Your Ad And Landing Page Symmetrical

How would you feel if you strolled up a sidewalk to a log home that is set in a countryside with a look of the 1800’s and the owner invited you in and you walked into a room with ultra-modern lamps and furniture?

Wow… The head would be spinning!symmetrical

It feels the same way for a person who clicks an ad that has an image they can relate to… Let’s just say a nice little kitten.

When the landing page comes up, the image is a pack of wolves.

Hmm??

The best way to keep that person engaged is to have your ad and landing page symmetrical…

  • Same or similar images
  • The same font
  • Matching or the same colors
  • Etc…

Conclusion

More than anything, I always recommend testing digital ads. A/B testing… Using similar, but different ads and measure results.

Remember to check all the rules where you are running your ads. While you can run similar ads, the ad you run on Facebook will be different than an ad you run on Google.

I will be delving further into this subject in future posts, but these tips can lead you in the right direction for the best ROI.

I also have one other tool that will help you track costs versus revenues. Get the Expense Tracker here and keep your budget tight and clean.

Hope this helps you climb your way…

4 Tips On Empowering Yourself For A Life Of Success

empower yourself

The top thing that holds people back from a life of success is that person looking back at them in the mirror.

Success takes

  • passion

  • persistence

  • dedication

  • and hard work

To meet the challenges that are thrown at you, you must be a warrior, quick thinker and able to “swim” when everyone else is drowning.

To be all that you can be, you have to allow yourself… You are tasked with empowering yourself.

To give you a helping hand, here are 4 tips on empowering yourself for a life of success.

It is never too late to be who you might have been.” George Eliot

Empower Yourself Tip #1: Don’t Allow Emotions Control

You have every right, and you should feel emotions. Allow yourself to laugh, cry, scream, etc… But there needs to be a line drawn. To have power within, you need to control the emotions and not let them control you and your actions, or in-actions.

The key here is feeling those emotions and then acting. So many people replace emotions with actions.

Let you emotions empower you to make a change and solve the problem at hand.

“You will have bad times, but they will always wake you up to the stuff you weren’t paying attention to.” Robin Williams

Empower Yourself Tip #2: Gain Or Lose?

This may be hard to accept, but in everything that occurs in life, you gain something and you lose something.

Just think about that!

Now you have a choice… You can focus on what you lost or you can focus on what you gain.

Here is a scenario… You are in a busy mall and you reach to get your billfold to pay for a gift. Your billfold is gone and you see a young man running with it. He pick-pocketed you. You yell and security catches the boy but 2- $100 bills fall from the billfold in the confusion.

Someone picked up 1 and left but a nice young man returns the other as security is arresting the thief.

Now you could focus on the lost bill or the returned one. Which will be a better focus for you?? It’s a pretty simple answer.

Never let success get to your head and never let failure get to your heart.” Ziad K. Abdelnour

Empower Yourself Tip #3: Be Responsible For Your Thoughts And Actions

By taking responsibility for all of your thoughts and actions, you will ultimately empower yourself to make the right thoughts and take the proper actions to benefit you and those around you.

Just say no to blaming and own your part.

“Success and happiness is something no other person can steal from you. Make something of yourself, make mistakes, and learn. Life is beautiful.” Christian Coma

Empower Yourself Tip #4: Exercise

exercise

It is just amazing what a morning jog, afternoon bike ride or an anytime exercise routine can do for your physical being, mental being and spiritual being.

Exercise brings out the endorphins that bring empowerment into your soul.

Create an exercise routine and watch your life change before your eyes.

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

7 Reasons You Should Have A Business Website

business website

No matter your business, you should have a business website.

I have heard some business owners say that having a Facebook page is enough. I have to tell you now… People don’t visit Facebook looking for businesses. Sure, you may be discovered, but you will gain more respect and trust if you also have a business website.

Yes, there is some cost, but you need to look at it as an investment and not a waste of money. You will understand why I say that as you look at these 7 reasons you should have a business website.

Business Website Reason #1: To Let Potential Customers Know About You

The old days of people looking in the Yellow Pages for businesses is long past. According to a Nielsen survey, 85% of consumers look on the internet to find local businesses. So if your website is loaded with local keywords and phrases making it SEO friendly, and listed in Google My Business, local customers will find you and your website.

It works the same way with businesses who do business anywhere… Having a website will give consumers better odds of finding you.

Business Website Reason #2: Customers Expect You To Have A Website

If you are in business and have not yet had a customer ask you how to find your website, I am surprised.

And if you tell them you don’t have a website and they don’t give at least an “eye roll,” I am doubly surprised.

Many consumers will assume that if you don’t have a website, you are unprofessional and they will probably start the search for a business who does.

Business Website Reason #3: It’s Your Online Catalog/Brochure

catalog

If you need to cut costs, don’t get rid of or not have a website. Cut costs by halting catalog or brochure printing. Make your website your brochure, your catalog.

Just simply send people to your website to see your products or services. Most people have smart phones and/or tablets, so make sure your website is mobile friendly.

Business Website Reason #4: 24/7 Accessibility

Maybe your store is only open certain business hours, but your website is up all the time, any time. This way consumers can shop and price check on their time and visit your store when they are ready to buy.

Or make it even easier for them and give them the ability to order right there on your website…

They will love you for that feature and you will love the revenues.

Business Website Reason #5: It Is A Way To Show Off Happy Customers

Potential customers will look at reviews. And you do not have much control of those. So if you have an enemy who puts out a bad review, what do you do?

The best way to counteract 1 bad review is with 2 great testimonials.

Most consumers are quite wise and will not let a bad review be their only means to an end. They will also examine the testimonial on your website and they will weigh everything.

Business Website Reason #6: Top Rated Customer Service

Consumers will love the fact that they can get all contact information right there on your website. This way they can ask questions and get fast answers.

And it is easier than ever to add live chat where you or one of your tribe is notified anytime someone asks a question.

Business Website Reason #7: It’s A Tax Deduction

Your website can bring in revenues but since it is also a business expense, you can claim it as a deduction.

You know, tax deductions are so important in managing your business and I have the perfect tool for that. Check out The Expense Tracker here.

Conclusion

Getting a website set up and running may have you slightly shaky.

Don’t be!

If you need help… No not me, but I know people. Just leave a comment and I will let these experts know and they will contact you.

I hope this helps, because having a business website will help you take your business…
