8 Tips For Part Time Entrepreneurs

entrepreneur

Sometimes, the best idea is to get started in business ownership part time. I know that others may say that you should “dive in head first,” but every situation calls for different measures and if part time seems the best way to get started, by all means, go for it!

In today’s post, I am going to give you 8 tips to help you find success as a part time entrepreneur. I know they will help you and if you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comment section at the end of this post.

Part Time Entrepreneurs Tip #1: Ask Family Members To Help

It’s a great way to balance family and work… Just ask your spouse, children, etc… to give a helping hand. Use their strengths…

  • order filling
  • blog posts
  • record keeping
  • etc…

This will give them “ownership” in the company and help them feel a sense of accomplishment.

Part Time Entrepreneurs Tip #2: Ensure You Are Following The Rules With Your Employer

If you signed a non-compete agreement with your current employer and your side business could actually be considered a competitor, you could be sued.

It is wise to examine all the rules with your employer and you may even want to consult an attorney before you start that part time business.

Part Time Entrepreneurs Tip #3: You Must Have Patience

You may see another entrepreneur having quick success and you wonder why it isn’t happening with your business immediately.

First, every business has different variables and I must ask, is the other entrpreneur working full time on their business?

If you are working a business part time, you will get part time results. That does not mean you won’t be successful, but it will take a longer time.

You must be patient and give it 100% attention during the hours you are working the business.

Part Time Entrepreneurs Tip #4: Don’t Get Distracted

There are a lot of distractions that can cause disruption in your business goals if you allow them… You must keep a steady focus on the finish line.

I suggest setting daily, weekly, monthly and annual goals. Make daily to-do lists and stick to them.

Make sure your work area is distraction free. Turn off those social media notifications. Set a schedule for checking email and ask your family to help you stay distraction free.

Part Time Entrepreneurs Tip #5: Have An Accountability Partner

Having a trusted person who you explain your goals and objectives to. A person who will check up to make sure you are not procrastinating. That person who will keep you accountable is a wise way to make sure you don’t “slip” away from your path of success.

So start thinking… Who, in your circle of family and friends, is the person that will keep you accountable? Now approach them and ask for their assistance.

Part Time Entrepreneurs Tip #6: Outsource

Considering all that needs to be done to manage any business, there are many tasks that must be done, are time consuming and can be mundane.

Many of these tasks could be handled by an outside source… A freelancer.

  • Blog posts
  • Data entry
  • Email marketing
  • Social media management
  • Etc…

There are many places you can find excellent freelancers. Just Google “find a freelancer,” and you will see many.

But, be sure to examine each one closely to ensure you are getting a competent person.

Part Time Entrepreneurs Tip #7: Know The Competition

This tip goes for all entrepreneurs, full or part time.

There is an old saying that says “keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer.”

I am not saying a business competitor is an enemy, but in a way, they are. You need to follow their movements so you can be better, stronger and provide consumers a greater experience.

Part Time Entrepreneurs Tip #8: Save Money

As you start making profits, you will need to take a percentage and put into the business. But just as important, you need to take a percentage and put into savings.

I assume you want to build the business to a point where you can finally go full time. Having a “nest egg” will make the switch from part to full will make it much easier.

I want to help you even more in this area. I know that saving can be one of the most difficult areas for entrepreneurs. It all starts in knowing what is going out and what is coming in. Having a strong system that keeps you in budget is a key.

A few years ago, we developed an application that has helped many people like you manage their budget. It is called The Expense Tracker and you can learn more and get your budgeting app here.

Conclusion

Don’t let anyone tell you that starting as an entrepreneur part time is a bad thing. There have been many successful business owners who started part time and built hugely successful systems.

By following these tips, you will be on a better path to ensure your part time venture starts its steady climb…

Grow Your Business Using Gamification

gamification

Doesn’t everyone like games?

Maybe some games are not “up your alley,” but I would wager there have been a few games in your life you have enjoyed. Be it:

  • a card game
  • Monopoly
  • Mario Brothers
  • or something as intense as World of Warcraft,

there is a game or 2 for everyone.

And now entrepreneurs are realizing that gamification can be used to help grow businesses.

In today’s post, I am going to just give you some ideas on using gamification techniques to help gain customers and create more attention to your brand.

Use Educative Gamification

Setting up a simple educative quiz that asks difficult questions about your particular niche that rewards with % off on products is a great way to engage your website visitors.

And you can also use the answers to showcase how your company solves certain problems.

Customer Rewards

Like airlines do with frequent fliers, fast food does with customer cards, etc., you can offer a gamification like system that rewards your customers.

It could be something like buy 5 get 1 free, or get a certain amount of reward points and get a percentage off.

For many consumers, it becomes a game and some will buy even what they don’t need just to get a prize.

Customer Levels

Another cool gamification method that works is the creation of customer levels.

Think about it, don’t you feel somewhat special when you are considered a VIP with businesses?

You can carry it so far as to create levels and explain how the consumer can step up to the next level.

Be sure and have special rewards for each level and you will discover your followers clawing to get to the next levels.

Bidding Gamification

shake

If you can set up a bidding system, you will be amazed as to the response you get.

Just think, eBay was one of the first to use this style of gamification and consumers still “flock” to the site to bid in an effort to win.

I have seen some of the oddest items go for huge amounts of money.

If you can set up a bidding type format, you may discover sales amounts much higher than you would have received if you marked the prices yourself.

Employee Training

Let’s be completely honest here… Some employee training manuals and videos are absolutely boring. But you know that if employees paid attention, they would gain a lot from that training.

So if you use a gamification system… Reward them if they can answer a few questions about the training and put them in a position where they must use the training the received.

Studies have shown that gamifying the training process works.

Create A Game App

Some businesses have used this technique to build their email list.

Here is a perfect example… Build a short animated “Build Your Own Pizza App.”

So you own a pizzeria and you can have the person give their email to be able to “Build Their Own Pizza.” Now you can send them special offers on an occasional basis. And, go 1 step further… They built the pizza and your smiling face can pop up saying “Wow, that looks good. Order a real one by calling (phone #) and telling the employee this special app #.”

You can have the app coded in such a way that your business sees the pizza they built and you can make it for real.

This system could be used for many products and services.

Tokenize

More and more businesses are realizing that blockchain technology can be a huge benefit.

And in a way, it is like gamifying your business.

You can create your own brand token that holds cryptocurrency value. As customers react the way you desire, reward them with a brand token. They can then use a collection of brand tokens to buy.

If you want an easy and cost efficient way to tokenize your business/brand, check out this blog post and head on over to Nasgo.com to get started.

Conclusion

It all just takes a little creativity.

Make a game of doing business with you and you will be amazed as to how many people want to play the game.

Gamification works… Use it and you will take your business

6 Tips On Using Video To Promote Your Business

video promotion

Video is a great way to promote your business and your brand. But like other marketing methods, there are right and wrong ways to go about it.

I often use video not only to promote, but also to educate customers.

Unlike basic words in a website, video allows people to see the real you and they gain even more trust knowing you are a real person just like they are.

So today, I am providing you with 6 tips on using video to promote your business, your brand and you personally.

If after reading this post, you have any video marketing questions, feel free to post them in the comments area and I will answer them as timely as possible.

Promote Your Business Using Video Tip #1: Show Off Your Product Or Service

This is by far, the most used marketing video system… Because it works!

I have found that by explaining how any product or service works in writing does not always convey to potential customers the full features and benefits. But when you actually show the product or service being used on video, the person will be more attentive.

Promote Your Business Using Video Tip #2: Use Actors Or Actresses Within Your Target Market

In most of my videos, I am the one on the screen or speaking. But many other entrepreneurs use actors or actresses which is fine as long as…

That person must be within your target market zone.

Case in point… Let’s say you sell an item that makes life easier on farmers during planting season. But you have a big city business woman trying to market the item on your video.

Do you think a farmer from Farmsville, Iowa will have trust in that person? Do you think they will believe that person has any idea of what farming is like? As a matter of fact, I can picture a group of farmers all gathered at the bar after a hard day work laughing their tales off as Jimmy Corn Grower is showing the group that video.

It goes viral, but no sales because they are laughing but not buying.

It would be much better if you used a 35+ year old man dressed in overalls and a Pioneer Seed Corn hat. That would make your product more believable.

Promote Your Business Using Video Tip #3: Educate

laptop and notebook

Some of the best promotional videos on the internet do not even have the look of being business promotional.

You simply educate your audience on something within your niche.

Let’s say you offer various cosmetics and you create a video on the proper way to put on lipstick. You simply have the actor using your brand of lipstick and at the end of the video, just put a credit saying something like: this education brought to you by (your website, business, or brand).

This system works well, that is why major corporations use it on television commercials and in other places.

Promote Your Business Using Video Tip #4: Make Sure Your Video Thumbnail Is Optimized

You have probably heard the line, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.”

But a large percentage of people still do… And it is no different with video. People are going to look at your video thumbnail and immediately determine if they will watch the video or not.

One of the best tips I can give here is optimize that thumbnail with a positive, smiling face looking straight at the camera.

Promote Your Business Using Video Tip #5: Testimonials

Let me ask you, when you are searching online for products or services, do you read customer reviews?

Most people do!

Customer testimonials are a huge factor in whether people will buy or not. And when you can put together customer testimonials in video format, it is HUGE!

Promote Your Business Using Video Tip #6: Partial Event Clips

Here is another video format I have used as of late with great success.

As co-founder of Nasgo, I have been attending a variety of speaking and blockchain events all over the world.

Just giving a backstage preview of the excitement has drawn many to look closer at our Nasgo blockchain to see how it can help their small business.

As a matter of fact, I am sure you could use the blockchain to grow your business. Go over and check out the Nasgo blog for more info.

Conclusion

Use these tips and I know it will help you grow your business… Video marketing works.

5 Ways Entrepreneurs Can Use And Benefit From Blockchain Technology

As of late, we see news of major banks, governments and even corporate giants instituting blockchain technology into their business platforms.

But, we are just “little guys,” how exactly can we use and benefit from blockchain technology?

That is exactly what I asked some time back. As my partner, Steve and I focused on the possibilities of blockchain, we realized that entrepreneurs could use this technology to keep pace with the large businesses.

We founded the decentralized Nasgo blockchain for entrepreneurs. It is a cost efficient way to bring your brand… your business structure into a blockchain system to help you grow your business.

So how exactly can you use blockchain? Let me give you some ideas…

#1 Ways Entrepreneurs Can Use And Benefit From Blockchain Technology: Eliminate Tedious Background Checks

Be it an employee, contracted freelancer, potential partner or vendor, background checks have become the norm. We want to know if the person has committed any past crimes that could put your reputation and your business in a bad light.

But background checks are both expensive and time consuming. This can be frustrating if you need to hire or contract someone fast, and the background check.

Using blockchain technology, past records could be maintained without any chances of manipulation.

#2 Ways Entrepreneurs Can Use And Benefit From Blockchain Technology: The Elimination Of Financial Middlemen

  • Payment processing
  • Invoicing
  • Raising funds
  • Etc…

Many entrepreneurs and small businesses pay exorbitant fees to middlemen performing these operations.

Using a blockchain system, those tasks could be handled efficiently without paying an outside source.

#3 Ways Entrepreneurs Can Use And Benefit From Blockchain Technology: Raise Funds

world currency

I somewhat touched on this in #2, but I thought I should delve further into this.

In the past, an entrepreneur may look to a venture capitalist for funding, but now, using blockchain technology, you can create an Initial Coin Offering in which anyone can purchase some of your finite coins or tokens and invest in you… Invest in your brand.

We have made this simple using the Nasgo blockchain. You do not need to know coding to make this a reality.

As a matter of fact, I created a video and blog post explaining how. See it here.

#4 Ways Entrepreneurs Can Use And Benefit From Blockchain Technology: Inventory And Financial Audits

I have watched as small companies have closed down operations for 1 week just to perform an internal inventory audit. So revenues halt while staff is counting and recounting.

And then the almighty IRS suddenly wants a financial audit… Files and records are pulled as well as the hair from scalps.

All that stress and loss of revenues can be diminished by using blockchain technology. Just pull up the blocks and the information is all there for any, and all audits.

#5 Ways Entrepreneurs Can Use And Benefit From Blockchain Technology: Attorney-Free Contracts

Using a blockchain “smart contract,” entrepreneurs can ensure that all tasks are completed before payment transfer.

Be it vendors, sub contractors, etc…, a smart contract can be established on the blockchain that is legally binding and the transfer of assets will initiate once the other party has met the terms of the agreement.

These are just a few…

There are so many more…

  • Education
  • Customer loyalty programs
  • Supply chain
  • Better cybersecurity
  • Global reach

Blockchain technology can actually simplify your business structure and save you money.

I encourage you to visit Nasgo.com and download the mainframe. You can use the system to create a sidechain off the Nasgo blockchain to give you a start on bringing your business into the blockchain.

And, if you have any questions, feel free to ask here or search Nasgo at any of the social media sites.

We want to help take your business…

Advertising Schemes – 8 Tips, Tricks and Secrets

advertising schemes

Sometimes I find myself being analytical and critical of various advertising schemes and methods. I put myself in the shoes of the intended “target market” and attempt to determine, “Would I buy that?” or “Would I use that?”

Be it advertising on billboards, in publications or on the worldwide web via Google Adsense, Facebook or other mediums, I have witnessed good, bad, great, terrible and mediocre.

Over the years, I have tested out many advertising schemes and I have achieved great, terrible, mediocre, and all other adjectives in between.

It is called learning by experience.

But you do not have to go through the costs of running bad ads. You can learn from my experiences as well as other entrepreneurs.

Here are 8 tips, tricks and secrets to run high converting advertising schemes.

Advertising Schemes #1: Use Your Unique Visual Elements

You should absolutely use your unique logo and brand name within any, and all your advertising schemes.

This has the benefit of brand recognition. Maybe a person will not buy immediately, but as that logo gets into their head, their realization that you are a known brand and trusted will become a reality.

Advertising Schemes #2: Make It Venue Related

The venue you are using to advertise make a huge difference in the type of ad you should run. Don’t use the same ad on Facebook that you would use in a newspaper.

We have discovered that using unique images, not stock photos, on Facebook draws more attention. Whereas on publication ads, stock images will work.

Before developing an ad, consider the venue.

Advertising Schemes #3: Use A Carousel Format

This works especially well on social media. A carousel of images showing products, staff, or even the process of manufacturing.

Images in a carousel draw a lot of attention. I suggest you give it a try and see how the Return On Investment comes out.

Advertising Schemes #4: Keep Text Short For Outside Advertising

When it comes to billboards, ads on telephone poles or any other type of outdoor ads, you need to consider the fact that people only have a short time to read what is said. Keep your text to 7 words or less and the person will be able to catch everything written as they drive past.

Make the contact easy to read… Actually, consider your font and the boldness of your words. Just imagine yourself in a car at 25 – 30 MPH trying to read what you are saying.

Advertising Schemes #5: Use An Enticing Color

I suggest finding a color that blends well with your logo and sticking strong to it.

Just consider…

  • John Deere Green
  • Coca Cola Red
  • McDonald’s Yellow

What color will be associated with your brand?

Do keep in mind there are many psychological traits with colors…

  • Red = urgency
  • Blue = Masculinity
  • Green = Health and vitality
  • Purple = Wisdom
  • Yellow = Optimism
  • Black = Power… But should be used cautiously.
  • White = Safety

Advertising Schemes #6: Run A/B Tests

It always is wise to design 2 advertising schemes and run them at the same time. Watch the stats to see which one is drawing the most attention.

Use those statistics in your decision as to which ad you will run for the duration.

Advertising Schemes #7: Racy Works

Let’s all admit it… Sex sells.

But many do not want to go out and get photos of humans with nearly nothing on… Or do we?

Use a creative touch. Volkswagen had an ad that did amazingly well when they posted a convertible and simply said, “Go Topless.”

Using any type of racy or sex intended message can get more attention.

Advertising Schemes #8: Illicit Emotion

When advertising draws out

  • laughter
  • anger
  • sadness
  • or any other emotion,

people buy.

It may seem like a dirty ploy to “play” with people’s emotions, but the fact remains that emotion sells.

Conclusion

The biggest key in developing any type of advertising scheme is to use empathy. Put yourself in the target customer’s shoes. Will they buy from the message in your ad?

When you can provide what they want to see instead of what you think they need to see, you will have advertising success.

7 Tips On Making Decisions That Win

making decisions

A day in the life of every entrepreneur is full of making decisions.

  • What color,
  • price?
  • Which partner,
  • employee?
  • What location,
  • business format?

Decisions, decisions, and more decisions. Some are big and others small, but someone must make a decision and that someone is you!

I believe all of us have moments where we dread even the smallest decision like what to eat or wear? But again, we still must decide.

Over the years, some business people, investors and others have found some great strategies to make the decision making process easier and give greater odds the proper decision is being made.

So, instead of rolling dice, throwing darts or using the eenie, meenie, minie, mo systems, use these tips on making decisions that win…

Making Decisions That Win Tip #1: Realize It Won’t Be Perfect

If you are seeking perfection in the decision you must make, you probably will never make that decision. Because it will never be perfect.

Decide and then make small changes as they are needed. You must have faith in yourself and your team that the “second engine will fire lifting your business rocket to outer space.”

Making Decisions That Win Tip #2: Focus On One Decision At A Time

Research has discovered that multitasking does not work. People who multitask “think” they are getting more done but they are actually getting less done or what they are getting done is low quality.

This goes with decision making too!

If you are trying to make more than 1 decision at a time, the decisions you make have better odds of failure.

So focus on 1 decision and then move on to the next.

Making Decisions That Win Tip #3: Ask The Advice Of Mentors

You surely have 1 or more trusted mentors in your network.

With any decision, it never hurts to ask his/her advice. This doesn’t mean you must take their advice as the way to proceed, but by asking, you can discover how they would decide and it can help you make the best decision.

Making Decisions That Win Tip #4: Go With Your Passion

Let’s see, you have a decision to make that has 2 possibilities. 1 of the possibilities will lead to moving forward with your passion. The other possibility seems to be the most logical.

So what is the best way to go?

Your passion!

Sure, you can go down the path of logic and it may work out great, but you will always say “what if,” about the other choice you had.

Making Decisions That Win Tip #5: Make A List Of Possible Results or Consequences

It can help the process if you just take each answer and list out the possible results. Knowing what could happen good or bad, will help you make the a decision with a winner mentality.

Making Decisions That Win Tip #6: Get All The Facts

Knowing each and every fact about the situation you must make a decision about is an absolute.

I equate it to someone betting a large amount of money on a horse racing event. The wise gamble will study past races, weather conditions, the gate the horse is running from, the jockey and all other facts that will effect the outcome.

Making Decisions That Win Tip #7: Trust Your Intuition

They call it “gut instinct.” In most cases, the first thought is the best thought. Usually, all other thoughts is just your inner being trying to doubt your gut.

A large percentage of entrepreneurs will tell you their intuition is normally over 90% right.

Conclusion

At some point in time, you will make a bad decision. It is inevitable. But you can help keep the percentage of bad decisions low if you follow these tips.

Do you want to see how I handled some of the decisions I have faced in the past?

I wrote and published a book that goes into detail on my rise.. It is called To The Top and you can get a

So, you have a decision to make… You can buy the book or you can skip it and always wonder what was inside.
