Investing And Saving: Wisdom For Entrepreneurs

I will tell you how to become rich. Close the doors. Be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful.” Warren Buffett

When it comes to investing and saving, there is no “perfect” strategy. But there are those who have provided some great and sound advice… Like the Omaha Oracle, Warren Buffett.

I decided to write today’s post given the fact that the stock market has been erratic as well as the cryptocurrency exchange.

Many investors have sweat running down areas of their bodies I dare not mention. After all, their future as well as their family’s depends upon wise investing and saving along with revenues from their business or businesses.

Today, I am going to provide you with a variety of wise investing and saving tips to help you ensure you and your family weather any financial storms.

It’s difficult to save money when your neighbors keep buying things you can’t afford” Joe Moore

#1 – Investing And Saving: Publicity

One of the primary investments you need to make is publicizing you and your business. You may not want to spend a lot of money on this at first, but you do need to invest time. This means building social media business pages, a website and possibly some advertising.

Remember that no matter how great of a product you have, if potential customers don’t know about you and it, sales will be few and far between.

In the long run, it’s not just how much money you make that will determine your future prosperity. It’s how much of that money you put to work by saving it and investing it.” Peter Lynch

#2 – Investing And Saving: Some Preferred Stocks

Some semi-safe stock holdings are wise. Preferred stocks in solid and stable companies like:

  • General Electric
  • Coca-Cola
  • Etc…

is like putting money in a safety net. As you receive dividends, you may consider adding more stock.

It’s not how much money you make, but how much money you keep, how hard it works for you, and how many generations you keep it for.” Robert Kiyosaki

#3 – Investing And Saving: A Savings Account

I always suggest every entrepreneur take a set percentage of their “pay” and put it in a simple savings account.

While it may not seem like you are getting great interest, you ARE still getting interest and the money is readily available in case of an emergency.

Money won’t buy happiness, but it will pay the salaries of a large research staff to study the problem” Bill Vaughan

#4 – Investing And Saving: S&P Index Fund

It is also wise to put money into a Standard & Poor’s Index Fund. These funds rely on the S&P 500 Stock Index and can make substantially more money than #3.

This is a smart decision in that you need not research stocks on your own.

If investing is entertaining, if you’re having fun, you’re probably not making any money. Good investing is boring.” George Soros

#5 – Investing And Saving: You!

This is the most important investment of all!

You need to invest in your health and well being…

  • Vacations
  • Exercise
  • Proper eating
  • etc…

You need to invest in your education be it, books, classes, etc… After all, the more you learn, the better you will be able to manage your business.

#6 – Investing And Saving: Tools

Any tool that can help you cut time and automate certain aspects of your business can be wise.

While I mention that, I want to also tell you that a tool I was part of developing a few years ago has greatly helped entrepreneurs manage their budgets and also find tax deductions they may not had found otherwise.

I suggest you try the Expense Tracker. See more here.

Use Marketing Statistics To Enliven Your Marketing Efforts This Year: 5 Tips

I have met entrepreneurs that are always reviewing marketing statistics to guide them in their business. And I know some who could care less about statistics and they just use marketing means and methods they believe will work, even if the stats say otherwise.

I believe that the best way is to use a “middle ground” technique. Review marketing statistics and try some that rate high, but we also need to follow our “gut instincts.”

If the marketing statistics say that a method doesn’t work, but your instincts are saying it WILL work in your business application, it does make good sense to try it and see.

I have been reviewing some major marketing statistics for entrepreneurs and businesses. I am just going to share 5 tips I have found in studying these numbers. You may want to use them in this year’s marketing strategies you will employ.

Marketing Statistics For Marketing Efforts Tip #1: Ask Them To Share

If you are marketing to Millenials, you just may find this statistic quite interesting: 70% of millennial consumers are influenced by the recommendations of their peers in buying decisions.

It just makes good sense that you always… ALWAYS ask your customers to share the company, brand, product, etc… with their family and friends.

Marketing Statistics For Marketing Efforts Tip #2: Make Sure You Have Optimized For Mobile

The odds… the statistics say, around 70% of the people reading this post right now are doing so on a mobile device.

If my website was not mobile optimized, it would look like a crazy mess.

You want to ensure your website is mobile optimized or you may lose a lot of revenues.

Marketing Statistics For Marketing Efforts Tip #3: Educate Through Blogging

I must admit that I am amazed when I meet a business owner who is not blogging. They assume that blogging:

  • is a waste of time,
  • doesn’t bring in new business,
  • and/or creates do-it-yourselfers.

I will admit that blogging does take time, but I believe it is not wasted.

The marketing statistics say: 47% of buyers viewed 3-5 pieces of content before engaging with a sales rep. So it does bring new business!

Creating DIY’ers? LOL!

Let me just say that if a person is actually considering doing it themselves, they will attempt it anyway. I would actually say that with a proper blogging approach, readers will be more apt to stay away from the DIY idea. Or they will try and fail and will come to you, the expert!

Marketing Statistics For Marketing Efforts Tip #4: Consider Your Social Media Business Pages Your Best Customer Service Tool

Just consider this statistic: 71% of consumers who have had a good social media service experience with a brand are likely to recommend it to others.

So it just makes good sense that you consistently respond and post on social media. You need to keep abreast of everything about you, your company and your brand on social media.

Marketing Statistics For Marketing Efforts Tip #5: You Can Get Unstoppable Motivation In 7 Days

That’s right… Unstoppable motivation in just 7 days.

Statistics can lead you to success if managed correctly.

Let me know if you have any questions and be sure to get that Unstoppable Motivation.

Be A Wise Worker – 7 Tips To Work Smart, Not Hard

While it is a good compliment when someone says I am a hard worker, I would much rather they said I was a smart worker versus a hard worker. As a matter of fact, I commend the “lazy” worker who searches out the easiest and less labor intensive way to complete a task.

So would you prefer to be a wise worker or a hard worker?

Today, I am going to give you 7 tips to work smart, not hard…

And be sure and leave your feedback at the end of this post.

Be A Wise Worker Tip #1: Use A Time Tracker

A good way to get started with this process is to track the time you are spending on tasks. This will help you are grabbing your hair ayou determine where you are wasting time. You can see what you can cut and what you could have employees or freelance agents do.

I have heard some rave reviews about an app for both small and large businesses called RescueTime. They have both free and paid plans and you can see more here.

Be A Wise Worker Tip #2: Develop Strategies For Email And Social Media

Checking email and social media have become the entrepreneur’s biggest time waster. It is wise to set a strategy for both…

Now we all are different, so I can not tell you how to schedule checking your email and posting or reviewing social sites, but I suggest you set each one to a set amount of time each day.

You will see a huge difference in your productivity by doing so.

Be A Wise Worker Tip #3: Take A Break

So, you are in the middle of a difficult and frustrating task… You feel stuck; you are grabbing your hair and you feel like screaming… You need this done!

Take a break. Walk away.

While this may seem like a stupid move, it is the wisest one. By taking a break and allowing your mind to rest, that part of your brain that never rests will still be working on the task. When you go back to the task, you will be less stressed and you will probably complete it faster than you would have if you continued pulling your hair.

Be A Wise Worker Tip #4: Learn From Mark Twain

He wrote the books Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn… Mark Twain has some great advice that will help you be a wise worker. Mr Twain exclaimed that every day, you should “eat a frog.”

No, not a real frog, even though frog legs are delightful!

What this great author meant is that every morning you pick the most difficult task on your list and do it.

What will this do for you?

It will make all the other tasks feel like a breeze. You will have the pride of finishing that hard one and all the others will be easy.

Be A Wise Worker Tip #5: Delegate And/Or Outsource

I must have this tip in here because I know (from personal experience) that we entrepreneurs have the notion others will not be able to do certain tasks as well as we can, or in the way we would…

You MUST get over that thought pattern!

You WILL discover that employees or freelance agents can actually do some tasks better than you… Sorry if that just put a hole in your bubble, but it’s true.

You cannot do everything yourself… So be the wise leader and delegate or outsource.

Be A Wise Worker Tip #6: Take Care Of Yourself

Is it really doing you any good to work until the wee hours of the morning? Are you actually being productive? I doubt it!

Eat right, exercise, sleep properly and you will discover that you will be a wise worker.

Be A Wise Worker Tip #7: Keep Track Of Your Finances

Your incoming money versus your outgoing money must be monitored at all times. The wise entrepreneur knows exactly when and where money is coming in and going out.

Do you need help with this?

Use The Expense Tracker… Read more and sign up here.

Conclusion

Yep, I would rather have people saying Eric is a wise worker instead of saying Tippetts is a hard worker.

Actually, having both attributes is the best, but I take wise over hard any day.

How about you? What are your thoughts?

Just leave your comments below and let’s all climb…

5 Tips On Creating Engaging And Evergreen Content

The content you put on your website and blog needs to engage the reader. It needs to be so magnificent that the readers will feel obligated to share it with others. You cannot just write the same thing everybody else is writing. Your content needs to make the competitors content look like rubbish.

Is it easy?

No!

Can you do it?

Yes!

And, to add to the mix, you want a large percentage of your content to be evergreen…

What exactly does Eric mean by evergreen?

That is easy to answer… If someone finds your blog post in 2020, it needs to help them as much then as it does a person now.

Now, I do know that you will not achieve evergreen with every post. Times and methods sometimes change. Tools and software programs do get better or go away, so some posts may not stay relevant forever. But always remember, you CAN go back and edit posts to keep them great in the eyes of the readers.

I have decided to give you 5 tips to help you create engaging and evergreen content.

Scroll down and learn.

Creating Engaging And Evergreen Content Tip #1: Make It Unbelievably Useful

While a large percentage of content has usefulness, the reader needs to realize it… And in 80% of cases, they don’t.

Why?

Because it is not written in a way that is stupid-simple.

Too many bloggers write as if they are trying to impress their English professor. Blogging and thesis writing are 2 completely different things.

Here is a suggestion… Try uploading a talk to text software. Now put a good friend’s picture at the top of your computer and talk it out to he/she and then go back and do some slight editing.

You will find your blog reads as if you were in a deep conversation with the reader. They will pay better attention.

Creating Engaging And Evergreen Content Tip #2: Repackage

You may think of debating me on this… I will tell you how. You will go back to the first paragraph of this post to do so… I said,

You cannot just write the same thing everybody else is writing.”

And the debater in you will say, Eric, you said I need to write unique content… I cannot write the same thing everyone else is writing.

But guess what? It is nearly impossible to write absolutely unique content. Someone has said it before.

Your mission is to repackage what the others have written. Make it new and unique by using your voice, your words and your knowledge. You may be saying the exact same thing, but by choosing the right words and layout, it CAN BE unique, engaging and evergreen.

Creating Engaging And Evergreen Content Tip #3: Read It Aloud And Fix Those Small Errors

I believe every blogger makes the mistake of hitting publish without examining the work.

One simple misspelling or grammatical error can drive some readers nuts not to mention, hurt your SEO rankings.

I suggest reading the post aloud to yourself.

Sometimes our ears will catch what our eyes miss.

Creating Engaging And Evergreen Content Tip #4: Write To The Reader’s Emotions

It has been shown that the most engaging content is the writings that delve into 1 or more emotions of the reader… Get them

  • angry
  • sad
  • happy
  • frightened
  • etc…

Naturally, we cannot always get emotions out in every post, but we should try.

Creating Engaging And Evergreen Content Tip #5: Use Visuals

Online readers are scanners… By having enticing headlines and subheaders, you can tempt readers to go further into the smaller print. And, visuals like great images, infographics and videos will also grab the readers.

Use them and watch your posts get more engagement.

With that said, if you use videos, I suggest you regularly check to ensure the video is still online.

Conclusion

As a last tip, be you!

Don’t try to write like another person because your readers want to read your material… They want your tone of voice and what is in your heart and mind.

You know, I wrote and published a book to help entrepreneurs get to the top… And now it is in audio. As a matter of fact, the title of my book is To The Top. Get the audio version here.

Now, isn’t it time to write a top-notch piece of content?

Get to it!

6 Ways To Make Your Business More Profitable

The main objective of having any business is to be profitable. But many businesses are not achieving the profits they are capable of. There are various reasons this happens:

  • Over investing in certain marketing strategies
  • Miscalculations of profit margins
  • Not adapting to industry changes
  • Mixing personal and business bank accounts
  • Poor pricing
  • Etc…

Do any of these resonate with you?

Maybe they don’t, but you still have the ability to make your business more profitable… And, I am going to share 6 ways to do so!

#1 Way To Make Your Business More Profitable: Jack Prices Up By 2%

You have a product that solves problems! Sales have been steady, but costs have risen. It only makes good sense to raise prices slightly.

The majority of consumers will not even notice, while another percentage will understand.

Yes, you may have 1 or 2 who will complain, but a simple explanation of cost increases will suffice. And 2% really is but a “drop in the bucket.” Let’s say your product is priced at $79. Now the price will be $80.58.

It is not drastic, but adds a slight bigger profit margin.

#2 Way To Make Your Business More Profitable: Know Your ROI On Resources

Let’s say you are testing a new automated software, or you hired a new salesperson… Are you keeping track of your ROI?

ROI stands for Return On Investment.

While there is normally a slight period the ROI will be low or non-existent, within just a few weeks up to 2 months, you should be gaining and not losing profits.

Keep track of your ROI to know what you should keep and what should go.

#3 Way To Make Your Business More Profitable: Approach Your Inactive Customer Base

How many customers have you not seen in some time?

Do you have a system that periodically approaches those previous customers.

Yes, it is important to gain new customers, but it is your previous customers that are your “bread & butter.” Don’t let your bread get moldy.

#4 Way To Make Your Business More Profitable: Try Outsourcing Some Of Your Business Monotonous Tasks

More and more business owners have discovered that having full-time employees, or even themselves doing some of the monotonous business tasks:

  • Social media
  • Blog posts
  • Some accounting
  • Etc…

can be an expense that is not needed.

Outsourcing is normally the answer.

But that freelance agent is more expensive than my $12 an hour employee…”

Really now?

Did you add in that you bought the employee’s tools, you pay that person’s

  • vacation
  • insurance
  • heat and cooling
  • breaks
  • etc…

Overall, it can be a lot cheaper using an outsourced agent than an employee when you add all the factors together.

#5 Way To Make Your Business More Profitable: Faster Turn Around Time

Without dropping quality, speeding up your turn around time will raise profit margins… That is a fact.

Are you consistently looking for ways to speed it up:

  • Automation?
  • Elimination of steps?
  • Linking people, departments and vendors?
  • Etc…

#6 Way To Make Your Business More Profitable: Negotiation

One great example is the monstrous Walmart… They are always negotiating with suppliers and vendors to drop prices which therefore creates a larger profit margin… You should do the same!

It IS okay to negotiate.

Conclusion

These are just 6 ways… There are many more.
